You have to be fair to the AD08 - it's a lot like the R888 (but a lot better) both of which you wouldn't expect to have good standing water performance

The Rainsports I rate and they perform well on my 370bhp hatch

Thanks for the feedback, I kind of talked myself out of the AD08r's, I really need a bit more of an all rounder. Going to go for the uniroyal rs3's from camskill £254 delivered (price is changing daily) and get them fitted locally somewhere...

I have done, paid for and booked into get fitted this weekend (kwikfit code is still working) £293 fitted for the goodyears. Will maybe try rainsport 3's next time but thought the offer on the goodyears was too good to turn down.

It was there black friday/cyber monday offer but still worked for me still earlier tonight. You need to select the fitting centre and reserve a time slot (although nothing is actually booked in till you pay for them) before you get a chance to apply the code and see what the actual cost is, bit of a faff but worth it.

Lots of good attributes here See attached Reasonably priced and well reviewed too,

But remember it is a summer tire .
At 7 deg or less its time to think about silca compounds , as used in winter / all year tires.

Got to agree here, you cant compare a dedicated winter compound to a summer tyre, it's just not fair,

I have not fitted a set of winters to my scooby yet, but when i did to my little Glanza the ability in the snow and cold icy conditions was unbelieveable

The eminently sensible way to go

Rainsports are an impressive performer for 'winter'

I wouldn't be fitting a 'summer tyre' at the beginning of winter

100% agree with that coming from someone from the Midlands.
And In Wetter Manchester Id be putting a rubber ring in the boot instead of the spare

Got the Yokohama fitted on Monday feel like a quality tyre . Not driven hard with them on as I've heard they can be a handful in the wet . Ordered the rainsports tonight will be putting them on my spare wheels next week.

Default Rainsports for Christmas

Glad to see you taking the advice, even I feel these days like the ghost of Christmas past,

All you need now is a break in the rain to be able to fit them

I had AD08Rs 225/45/18s on the Legacy - I really liked them - but yes did notice that I felt I had to be a little bit more careful in the downpours...
I just fitted some Michelin PS4s since I couldn't get the Yokos at a reasonable price at the time and the PS4s get great reviews... I also got some Conti TS860s winters 225/50/17 on my 17"s for the first time ever - noticeably softer.

Also have some Bridgestone RE070s 215/45/17 (I think) on some 17" that I bought to get me through fitting Brembos - had them on a couple of track days - they felt very grippy... unfortunately wrong tyre size for Leggy so I didn't run them much...

Have you had much time on the PS4's to give some feedback

Also, are your RE070's FS

PS4s felt quite a bit softer than the AD08Rs (in 225/45/18 form) - but didn't have them on long before I changed the suspension for some Ohlins R&T

RE070s are on these 17" ZCW wheels in pretty good nick, plenty of tread...

Got them from Brian at CAMS Performance for £500 - would let them move on for £400 + P&P...

What do you think of the PS4?
I am a fan of Michelin tyres but have found the PS3 not a performance tyre. The PS2 and PSS that I've tried have been great though.
I've used Contis TS860 in a RWD BMW during winter and they've been great on snow.

I've got PS4's on my M135i and they're an excellent tyre in my opinion, wet or dry, much better in the cold or wet than the supersports
i had before and no difference in the dry. I'll be fitting some to my hawk when my NS2R's wear out.

Not really had them in use long enough to make a good appraisal. But from the use I have had out of them, they seem quite competent.

Ah.... steaming Yoko's

I quite like the aqualplaning - they give plenty of warning and it's progressive. On fastish long sweepers it's good when you can see where the water is - 4 wheel drifts
