couldnt tell you exactly as iv had so many over the years ,, prob owned more than 20-30 scoobs , prob more ,, friend used to own a import centre so id have them for a few weeks and sell them on if they didn't break first lol
to be fair iv owned a lot more 2.0 than I have 2.5's so its prob to be expected that I would have more issues with them

I’d sell my fully forged 2.5 for the right price.
Heavily modified 6 pot alcons
mdx321v
bc coilovers
xxr’s
defi gauges
loads more including vibratec engine and gearbox mounts white line front and rear with anti lift ect it’s almost a track car to be honest.
the engine was built by Paul Finch and had covered around 3 k @410bhp
pm for more information

later spec JDM new-age STi's (2003> from mmeory) used a hyperpeutic piston similar to the 2.5's...........
have got a few 2.0 blocks lying here with the same ringland fails you would get on the larger engines
the UK 2.0 STi doesn't have these pistons or these failures generally

Just my opinion of course, but in the time I've been on this forums (not even a year), I have never seen a rebuild thread about a new age jdm 2.0, yet the only thing I see written about the 2.5 eu engine is it's either blown, or people are doing a full engine rebuild project due to worrying about it popping.
That says a lot to me.

Thanks Alan and Anger - so some actual evidence of newage JDM 2.0s failing...
This is good to know as all we hear about are 2.5s. Presumably because there are many more 2.5s on the road than JDM 2.0s.
To Alan's point there is another myth that needs busting - the UK newage 2.0 bottom end (forged pistons) is actually stronger than the JDM blob or hawk 2.0 (hypereutectic cast pistons). The JDM bug used forged pistons so equivalent to UK cars.
