Guy says car till ran better tho even if it was low load & off boost,

No doubt far from perfect but none of the stuttering that is now there.

Says it didn't used to take multiple turns to start either,

Could be as simple as a faulty injector or damaged on install .

I hope you do post the conclusion Raggy once sorted....

None of what has been written makes sense. Something doesn't add up.
Look at the email extracts that were posted up for example, where the OP describes the car as running like a dream or something like that.
Driving at 120, coming home and hands shaking I assume due to adrenaline.

I seriously doubt the truth will ever come out..MM failed to fixed the car 3 times and raggys own mechanic fitted parts including the intercooler which was leaking...sounds like the car needs to go to a proper garage instead of butch cassidy and Billy the kid

threads like this start, then get knowhere, then get locked. I still remember when a well known tuner decided to get a fake account to created and create polls about each and put a negative on all but theirs hahaha

I've had a Bug Sti for a few years and have looked at this forum occasionally, now I've joined Scoobynet instead of Facebook. I have made some changes to the engine and after reading this thread Bob Rawle might be someone to avoid for mapping. Any other suggestions?

Yes, Duncan. My classic has been perfect after his remap to 280 hp and it's been like it for many years.

Problem is, there will always be an element of risk when things like mapping is done and then if there is a problem, there can be so many variables at play that the mud-slinging starts as everyone is blaming everyone else. Look up any mapper and you will find all of them have both good and bad feedback if you search hard enough.

I wonder why Bob Rawle hasn't put this Raggy bloke in court then? He has made some quite serious accusations.

I don't know, you would have to ask Bob.
Bob's done to much good work to be blighted by this thread. He looked after my car for two years and he's just a straight and honest as they come.

First off..
Not being smart but I think you need to get the car looked over by a good mechanic, someone with lots of experience with Subarus and not servicing vans and everyday day cars, when “Your Mechanic” was puzzled by fans not working... that worries me tbh..

The offer made to you to get your car fixed by the Garage up North and Bob, seems very reasonable to me... and was them putting their necks on the line and ultimately saying that they would fix it and be responsible for fixing it...
I doubt many would make the offer..

Going to a Syvecs won’t fix your problem, they are a great ECU, and once you get familiar with them they can help diagnose problems, much like what Bob will use is ecutek software to do. But no ECU can fix a problem.

An example for you, my car was mapped on Syvecs and ran perfect, I started it one day and it was hard to start, and running crap just out of the blue, but I was able to narrow it down to coolant temp sensor with the live data and logs...

If it had of been my car I would have definitely installed a Syvecs from the start, and I would also wonder is there need for 1000cc injectors at your level as it sounds excessive.

I could be wrong, but you seem to me to be someone possibly new to tuning, especially Subaru’s, perhaps I’m wrong but never the less I strongly recommend you deal the the Mapper/garage away from the public forum as I would think it’s more damaging to you than them, and I would worry your car will end up being the wasps nest no one wants to go near..

Hope you will take the above on the chin and as an outsiders view.

Other forums are available. It's posts like that which are "unhelpful".

Many of us have had these cars for ages. Problems, warts and all... We DON'T say stuff for effect, or to try to stop others "having fun".

1. Bob's work is fine. He's looked after mine twice:; once from standard and then after I blew the engine through no fault of the map, but through a set of circumstances I could have avoided, had someone on here GIVEN ME HELPFUL ADVICE!

2. The Evo is far easier, forgiving and more bombproof to tune. End of.

Get it wrong in a Scoob, it's only gonna end in tears.

Good advice; I think you also need to add in the mileage and age of the car when you got it, and the fact that it has gone from that, with jap100 octane fuel, to using octane booster on Irish fuel, whilst having a high level of modifications made to induction and fueling. The potential for something to go wrong, mixing mechanics, mapper at a distance, you probably won't get to the root of it; you know that I have had issues after the mapping of my hatch, but it's not possible to pin blame because there are so many variables. I just suspect these issues may continue when you go elsewhere, and I only mean that with the best of intentions.

So are you having a go at me for asking a reasonable question? I asked for a good mapper and was told to get rid of the car and get an Evo, about the same advice as you're offering. I'd call that unhelpful.

You'll sometimes get jokey responses to serious questions on here mate!
The late Simon Rowe mapped my car over a number of years as it gradually developed and he was first class. Since Simon passed away I've had Bob Rawle doing all mapping on my car and he is very knowledgeable and comes (this thread apart) highly recommended. Top bloke.

1st you asked for suggestions / opinions .... not help or ideas

2nd you bumped this thread up instead of making your own on your subaru making me think you are using a fake account to bump this thread raggy only to refresh putting bob down as a bad mapper although he came in here to sort it infact I think it's pretty lame ...

So if you ARE genuine and want proper answers or opinions start your own thread up and not facefack other threads this is not FACEBOOK .....
