My car is going to be too expensive to repair.
I had a second quote of 88 hours plus parts and paint to fix.
This is again £6k or more.
So with great regret it is time to move on.
I have sold the car for scrap.
I wish others better luck than me, some cars seem repairable, others not.

we had all this done to our bugeye for last mot, it was £700, which is alot of money but we owned the car for 11 years or more so thought she deserved it!
Garage took a few weeks but tbh i was happy that someone was willing to take the job on.

I have the same job ahead of me but looking at some of the welding it looks like good penetration was not achived I would be a little concerned about structural integrity of strut tower

Surgery successful !
Hell of a job tho , not the best welding , spotty rather than smooth seems like in the job above also but do hard to weld to at the angle !

Nah suspension off is the easy bit, remove seats, rear shelf, undo 3 bolts, undo the 2 bolts on the rear hub, off comes the strut.
ideally i could of removed the hub/driveshaft etc but i cant undo the main long bolt that holds the tie bars on etc .

"SouthWalesSam" Hi, I know this post was years ago but I'm looking for a fabricator who'd tackle rear turrets and sills on an Impreza classic an see that you're near Brecon and I'm Nr Lampeter so wondered who you used? Many Thanks Aidan

Rear turrets and sills can a can of worms so it depends on how far you want to go.
As mentioned above: Goddard Fabrication in Brecon did my initial patch up work.
Goddard are at Ffrwdgrech Industrial Estate, Brecon, LD3 8LA 01874 624600.
Ryan at Goddard did the initial cut out & weld up as per the pictures above with the suspension and running gear still in place.
That was sufficient to get the car through it's MOT.
Goddard now advertise 'vehicle rust repairs' as one of their core services.
This is a lower cost option.
Three months later I took the car to Ryan Jones (ProdriveRules) who, luckily for me, had set up shop at Torques Performance in Crickhowell a few miles down the road from me.
Ryan Jones did a full underbody restoration with full strip out, all running gear removed, turrets, arches, floor and sill ends rebuilt with new metal and all components refurbished or replaced.
That was a bit more expensive.
But with proper regular anti-rust maintenance the car ought to be good for around 10 more years.
Ryan Jones is back at C & K Motors in Leominster now: Unit 1, Brierley Way, Southern Avenue, Leominster HR6 0RW 01568 611991
Good luck
