Do you agree that 5w-30 is not ideal for an older sti b3 1997? Or do you think it is scaremongering? Just interested to see your opinion.

Some on here will definitely disagree about me being the voice of reason.
Yes, 5w-30 is too thin for that. Generally, I would go for a 10w-40 in a standard/close to standard one, driven sensibly or a 10w-50 if it's heavily modified or tracked a lot. The 10w-50 isn't going to be a problem if it's not heavily modified, but perhaps go for a 10w-40 next time.

For comparison
My modded 120k jdm engine ran at 1.5 bar at idle on a 10/40 oil when temp got to 95 or above , a bit low for my liking
Switched the a 10/50 and now runs at 2 bar at 95 oil temp or above .
Just shows the bearings are worn but not surprising really .

Well gave her a second oilxjanhe within three weeks 😌. She has the cfs nanodrive nt+ 10-50 stuff now so I'll let you know how she gets on with it.
