Those two are polar opposites bud
I havent time now to write a report on my findings of exhausts I have owned, but if I was to put a ranking on sound alone off the top of my head I would go:
Miltek 10/10 - great sound with no rasp, subtle on tick over but comes to life on boost
Tomie Titanium 9/10 - sounds awesome, but is never subtle, constant burble but on full chat wow!
Revolution 9/10 - Really smooth and throaty, nice constant melody.
Vortex 6/10 - A little raspy at time I thought, maybe needed new baffles.
Ebay Special 5/10 - Pay for what you get, sounded okay.
Prodrive 4/10 - A little understated for my liking, however sounds great on my hatch STI due to the quad exits I suppose
Nur Spec0/10 - Ears Bleed, enough said!
However this is a JDM thread with EL headers so my comparisons are not aligned to the OP's original Q's
This ranking is sound only, the build quality, deterioration quality, flow, and rear exit look all need taking into consideration too.

My long since departed UK2000 had a Blitz fitted when i bought it..It drove me nuts, and felt really stupid pootling over speed bumps with it barking and backfiring....It didn't last a fortnight..I sold it and bought a Magnex (iirc) full system..That sounded really nice...A deep rumble when bimbling around, but really opened up when you were pedalling along..Looked cool to..Not too big...the Blitz looked like a paint tin, and it covered the **** in soot.

Picked up the bung for the blitz from cams performance
as I'm attending tatton park on Sunday and don't want to have bleeding ears as I did when I got to scubyfest
Will report back with how it goes

Good move, but how does the car perform with it in, surely restrictive?

I was running on a full milltek system with a peashooter backbox at the time of mapping I was a little worried it might overboost with a less restrictive exhaust but I had no problems when putting the blitz on
Putting the bung on won't alter its performance in fact I think it may improve hopefully
I'll add results after Sunday as not driving it till then

Do running with bungs not add excessive back pressure that the car normally is not use to as the resistance is beyond the sensors ?
Ive always been told that running with bungs in the tail pipe were bad for the engine/turbo long term.

The bung is still a larger diameter then the milltek item that was on before so shouldn't make a difference fingers crossed all goes well Sunday in fact I might take it out tomorrow for a test run

Given that the after market exhaust almost certainly isn't set up to give the same back-pressure as OEM to scavenge properly, I see no particular reason to believe that it would make matters any worse than they are anyway. It's certainly not going to do anything particularly nasty to your engine beyond potentially slightly reducing power.
Personally, I'd probably buy an OEM exhaust and shove the stupid loud one on eBay though.

If bungs were an issue then the track side at Castle Combe and many other circuits would be littered with dead cars.

Some circuits are very strict, in fact you can get through scruteneering fine as the tests are relatively slack, Plus they are hardly measuring you on full chat with ALS in the pits Then to be flagged out on circuit

Update:
Put bung on today took to put fuel in then driven god 10miles motorway and local..
LocAlly sounds Crap the bung gas quitenend it down over 60% and pops and bangs still hood but not the usual thunder so defo not for me as I mostly do 7mile journeys when I do take it out
Really good on the motorway no more drone very pleased
sounds just like my milltek did Also drives much smoother and feels quicker in both maps very enjoyable and driveable I guess that's because your ears are not bleeding to death for you to realise how your car is actually performing
The bung will definitely make the long journeys a lot more pleasurable and easy to remove sand install 3mins if that do now I can enjoy best of both worlds

never run without it in there, but he also said that running without the bung is ridiculously loud, and in his opinion wasn't even a nice noise.

I was specifically advised by the late great Simon JGM to leave the bung in my NUr Spec as removing it would probably result in my turbo ramming more air into the engine and det + meltdown.

You chose/already had a nur then went for map/remap but the car is too loud, so was mapped with bung in, so your car is mapped to suit the bung, not without, which if it was used without would be more free flowing and could cause complications such as over boosting I suspect if now mapped with...
So if you own a nur and have been advised not to remove it, then why bother with a stupid loud exhaust that's earbleedingly too loud? Why not fit something more subtle and still free flowing like a Miltek?
A nur with a bung constantly fitted is like having the top spec home alarm filled with expanding foam - still looks good outside, and sounds off,,, just, but as so far as doing the job it was intended for - no not at all.

The Miiltek sounds nice when I've heard it..The NUR Spec thing (to my ears) sounds like a cheap and nasty bean can...
I viewed a beautiful newage several years and as soon as we'd got to the bottom of the street I'd decided I hated it...I felt like a right plonker as it popped and banged....whilst doing 2mph over speed humps...
I walked away from that potential purchase.

/\ yeah I'm sure a 100% safely mapped car without a bung, now running at full chat with a bung installed would be harmful for the car. Anything at all that's run with a bottle neck is highly prone to fail in any vulnerable/weak parts, it's not science. Yes some track cars are running with bangs, but are they mapped for it? - it must be yes or they are risking it on borrowed time in my opinion.
Do WRC cars map for the power the achieve, say 300bhp/550ftlb and then install the restrictor and say **** it that'll do

i took it to simon purely to make sure it was safe. he confirmed it was, but advised me to leave the bung in as removing it would likely up the boost and cause the det and subsequent ill effects i mentioned above. he then went on to say that in his personal opinion the nur spec r sounds horrible with the bung out anyway.
i have not and will not be spending thousands on my car, therefore, it suits me just fine as it is. (other than the bubbling on the rear arches!).
does that clear things up for you a little bit ROb?

it's not silly. my car was not mapped. it has a (presumably from ebay or similar) chip in the ecu, as the ecu is not mappable and i haven't bothered forking out for an ESL or a mappable ecu.

No worries
