hmm,

when i look the manual, they showed specific areas not all,(i bought gaskets but didn't change yet)

 

I was in 2 minds.
Theres a post on here that shows specific spots yet many videos show them doing the whole thing.
one video is comical in that the amount he puts on is as if he has used a spade.
I figured that as it comes off easily enough I'd put a slither just to help it stick.
I can't imagine doing the whole thing would help help it leak. It may waste product but I still have 90% of the tube left at least and itll be binned anyhow

18hrs later and you can see the smallest amounts of sealent weeping out.

 

Is sealant not used on the inner gaskets around the spark plugs?

 

I didnt remove any off the old one but put a slither on the new. - just in case

 

Sweet, I’m doing mine this week so I’ll put some on the spark plug gasket as well.

i think I’ll also put some under the gasket on the valve cover on the bottom part as if it’s gonna leak it’ll be there

 

I used brake cleaner on a rag and carefully cleaned the block surface. Not sure what it would do to oil in the cam area so was super careful.

I put a little sealent on the block at the bottom and then spent 6 or so minutes going the cover.
before I did any sealing I practiced how I was going to put it in without hitting the cams. I also had all bolts, spanner a d socket to hand so that once it was stuck I didn't need to break that initial stick.

 

As I had a spare t peice and didn't like the original oil pressure sensor wire flapping around loose I put it back in 😃

Make sure you screw the T peice in first and then a final turn after putting the after market sensor in the side to prevent fowling on the alternator.

cheers guys,,,,, yer i was thinking of taking the badge off, one of the last owners was a cosworth engineer ,it does have a couple of cosy bits but not that warent a badge ,

 

Changed both the tracking rods & ball joints on my hawk. Jesus, had to grind the old ones off half way up then heat them up & use a 1 meter breaker bar + an extra sleeve ontop to get enough leverage to undo them 😂. I would seriously recommend reconsidering doing them unless you MUST. Oh and had to get the specific tool to actually be able to get a breaker bar on them.

 

Fitted a Samco inlet pipe

seems to be a very tight fit? Guessing this is normal?

 

Got the perrin oil air separator fitted and parallel fuel lines set up

 

turn it off in settings. Someone on passionford told me this as here and over there it was driving me mad! Would randomly fly off on its own too.

not sure, first time I’ve fitted one. I’ve had whole inlet off and fitted TGV deletes but surely it can’t be fitted incorrect? All bolts line up so can’t see how anything could be wrong?

Where it joins the turbo. Is it pushed on enough ?

 

@Hawkins 1995 I bought new fuel rails and pipe for mine as it stinks when cold.
is it worth while me fitting pharrell lines before putting the inlet back on.

Hi mate I did the rail and lines as I was bored on this lock down haha its a worthwhile mod and each injector gets even pressure from what we have read I got a local company by us torques_uk I got rail lines and fittings from work out 330 pounds

That really does look cracking I see you managed to straighten the fins very well , i used tweezers on mine.

 

Thanks buddy. I was sat by the dining room table for hours with tweezers straightening them. I was surprised at how much crap was suck between the fins while I was cleaning it.

 

Exactly how i did it at the kitchen/dinning room table, the location of most of my little projects.
