Maybe because we are, as a collective consciousness at an evolutionary level, a species where we all share the same level of cognition. What we see in those photos will be different to what ants might see; the ants would have no concept of what they are looking at in those photos and wouldn’t actually “see” it as we do if at all. That or it’s because we are the ones being observed and what we can see and perceive is not actually our universe but that of a higher being and perhaps we are the ants.

Maybe we are a tiny undiscovered solar system in a dollop of poo on the bottom of someones shoe... after all the universe is infinite.

That would certainly explain you but not necessarily the rest of us

Or perhaps we really are just players in a higher being's computer simulation?

This is not certain.

In which case we both believe in, respectively, an entity or concept which to date has proven unfalsifiable. However, astrophysics is not commonly considered a faith based belief system whereas Christianity is. Given this, my mandate for belief in God is much stronger than yours is for a 'belief' in an infinite universe, thus rendering your equivalence false. Put it like this: if I were in church and was asked if I believe in God, my positive response would be met with credulity. On the other hand, if you were to attend an astrophysics lecture and, when asked why the universe is infinite, described that it was a case of belief, you'd be met with derision and an instruction to do the math.

And then he claims that 1 + 1 does not equal 2 and is escorted off the premises! 🙄

In fairness, he does have a point. 1+1 only equals 2 using the decimal number system. You can quite easily redefine the value of 1 to make it something else.

The only time 1+1 doesn't equal 2 is in a binary system. In real life, 1+1 always equals two. The only exceptions are when it doesn't! 😨😨

1 + 1 in binary does add up to 2 it is just expressed in binary (10) obviously

Ah, adding up to, equalling and expressed is in fact 3. And it's a gang of cows.
