Was it discussed before bidding that, if the car required new consumables - tyres, pads, discs - upon its arrival in the UK, you would be responsible for covering the cost of these?

That wasn't discussed. There personal import service video shows that their Japanese team look over the car before bidding. Would have thought they would have picked this up unless its bull****.
Been offered the tyres at trade......

Shame, cos the potenzas were part of the package, really stiff sidewalls, cost £ 240 a corner in Japan. Michelin supersports oem for S206, Dunlop sport 600 s used in states. I considered yoko AD08'S, settled for supersports, but they lack feedback of potenzas. Most euro tyres are way too soft in the sidewalls, including Goodyear.

If the tyres are completely worn, I would treat everything else as being ready for servicing unless you have proof that all the important bits have been done. I think most owners in Japan replace as little as possible running up to the big MOT that they have.

It's a shame about the Potenzas as I will never get to drive it with them on!

Very similar to mine, but anyone's guess what was done, unless you read Japanese!! Put a Damd wheel on last week, which really compliments the quick rack; standard wheel is a bit thin

I suspect it depends on the margin they're making on the car. They had put crappy (albeit new) Pirelli P7s on my Spec C RA before I agreed to buy it. I ditched them after 1,500 miles for a set of Pilot Sport 4s - fantastic tyres.

The Pirellis were truly awful on it, but thankfully someone else bought them off me.

Unfortunately the Nankang NS2R's don't come in the right size for me, neither do the Federal 595 RSR's.
Gone for the old faithful Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 3.

Ordered my exhaust system today with Hayward and Scott, two week wait as it needs to be made. Full Turbo back 3" with sports cat and silencer. Stuck with quad pipes, thought about just one each side. £1500

This car better be fantastic!! Lol

Loving this car already and what you have planned for it, wish I had a yellow one now.

On the tyre front I was torn between the eagle f1, rainsport3 and dmack kinetic-s. Last 4 cars have always run rainsports with great return in handling and milage. Want to try the dmacks as a couple of mates run their rally options with great results on mixed surfaces and weather conditions. Just finding a stockest with the road options is tricker

enjoy once you get it

Well thanks to Hedgecutter putting doubt in my mind I tried to go for MPSS lol. However they can't get them in time for the IVA so it's the F1's this year lol
Choosing tyres is so hard as there are conflicting opinions on every brand. Even the MPSS have softish sidewalks.
See how I go with these. I've had them on a Mk5 Golf GTI I used to have.

Sorry! MSS do have a softer side wall, but they are constructed differently. They don't have the precise turn in of the potenzas.

I've read the Rainsports are great in the wet, but are they a decent all-round tyre? Are they good in the summer and on dry roads, too?

Ran them on a mixture of different cars with different amounts of power too. Saxo vtr, Ibiza cupra, mk5 Astra sri and a zafira gsi. They were great in the dry especially in the cupra and gsi (270bhp bus)

think they will be my choice choice for the scoob shortly and if I can find them in 22's I'll put them on the missus X5 too

Hayward and Scott exhaust was delivered to Torque GT on Friday. Paid customs charges on the wing lift kit Thursday so hopefully that will arrive any day.
I had arranged to buy a second hand Perrin strut brace from someone on here but he has gone off the grid.
I asked if the mods could now all be fitted etc but it's not looking likely for next week. That's another week gone!
Still waiting on dvla for registration :-(

I've got to be honest, I've lost a bit of the excitement as the wait has been so long. I'm sure it will come back once I have a collection date. Having said that it's getting sent straight to Chevron Motorsport after leaving Torque GT lol

Hedgecutter and I discussed tyres about this time last year. I also went for the MSS'.

I personally haven't had his problem with the soft side walls and made sure i bought the XL's.

I find them even better than the Potenzas the car came in to the country on.

Obviously they could have been in worse condition than his.

A few teaser pics on Torque GT Instagram today. Next week I really do want some kind of timeframe. I'm missing out on a car meet Sunday which I never thought I would, plus two early morning runs with friends!
