Apple is lost

Maybe you still plug things in all the time but you're old school. You have to think ahead, Apple are good at that. Yes they're still widely used, as are the laptops of the same era, but they're dying, wireless is far better and people store stuff on other people's computers.
Did you know that Apple had to work pretty hard to get so many USB sockets on the new MacBook. It's all very complex. Give it a few years and it will be normal.

Wireless is better because it has no wires.
Get a MacBook Pro, it has four.
Nothing is stopping you doing all of those things at once, and you only have to plug one thing in, isn't that great.

Wireless is not better since file transfers are too slow, especially when working with large files when editing video for example. So you spend a best part of £1500 on a laptop only for you to then need to spend a hundred pounds or so on dongles just so you can connect your devices to it. It would be fine if Apple actually made USB C devices, but they don't, only dongles to connect your devices.
If you can do all of those things at once and only have to plug one thing in, why have another 3 of these ports taking up precious speaker space!! To gather dust? Truth is one dongle cannot host those things you say, an external display and a thunderbolt device needs at least 2 dongles and then you need another one for your SD Card reader.

He's not, he's just one of those people with an irrational disliking/hatred of Apple who will actively go out of their way to find reasons to have a go at them (think TP). If I was bored enough I'm sure I could concoct a scenario where a windows laptop wouldn't have enough ports but I can't be bothered.

They aren't awkward, just different. At the end of the day it's no worse than a windows machine.
Incidentally for those of you harping on about USB and what not, Sandisk doing a range of wireless memory sticks that are a reasonable price.

You have a 2015 MacBook and you're looking to replace it with a 2016. More money than sense. In 2020 when you should be looking your view on ports will be different.

No I have an old Thinkpad that I've been using since 2010, just fancy trying something different so looking at a 2015 Macbook Pro instead of the new 2016 model. I hear Final Cut Pro is pretty good for videos.

iMovie is great for movies and you don't have to buy that. .
I remember getting into work and plugging in an Ethernet cable, a DisplayPort, a USB drive and a camera via FireWire, then unplugging it all again to go home, it was rubbish. A friend had a dock, I was jealous but too tight to buy one as it was expensive.

Seeing it's the season of good will here's a little Christmas pressie that'll blow TPs mind. I was sorting through some boxes earlier and found an old Samsung slide phone that I had about 10 years ago and I couldn't not help but notice the lack of a headphone port, however Samsung did rather kindly provide one of these...
That's right kids, it's a dongle
