From what I can tell apple will not go ahead with anything chancy / liable to dent profits

Won't even entertain the idea

JackClark 21 December 2016 10:56 PM

He's in denial. A lot of very vocal anti gay rights protesters are gay, this is the same behavior. I thought getting an enema in Thailand would work, apparently not, still a lot of tension.

Umm, they killed USB and the headphone socket. Plenty of feet were stamped and a few tears were shed. We know they're investing in transport, that's pretty big... and might fail. Chancy.

I'd like to hope if everyone ignored him then he'd go away but I get the feeling that wouldn't be the case. :brickwall

Someone with skills needs to change that dog food to a custard pie.

That'll last until everyone else has done it. Can you believe you can still buy computers with optical drives!

If Anything Apple are just further alienating themselves from normal people when they should be designing stuff to appeal to non Apple fans but its the total opposite.

Not everyone wants to spend £400 on a tiny phone with a 4" display or buy Macbooks that are next to worthless that cost a fortune.

Why not file a complaint against the author Jack, I know you cant handle negative criticism against Apple but not everyone is blinded like you.

You done well brainwashing neil here though.

Most people don't want to buy sockets/interfaces they don't use. My old Macbook has a row of ports down one side and a big slot on the other side - not sure what the slot is for, some old school stuff - they're all full of dust. Think how much better that space could be used, I'd trade all of them for a bit more speaker space.

On-the-bog 22 December 2016 10:01 AM

Until you actually want to use them, just because you don't use alot of their capabilities doesn't mean others don't.

You really can't see beyond apples PR can you

This is nothing to do with PR, this is my use case, pretty relevant.

This might help you.
Lets say you went shopping weekly and for 5 years you bought sprouts but nobody ate them, every day you just threw them in the bin, then one Christmas Trevor comes to dinner and he just loves the sprouts, eats that whole weeks worth, now is it awesome that you had sprouts when Trevor wanted them or is it **** that you threw them out every week. The other option is you know Trevor's coming so you buy a packet of Sprouts, like a dongle.

your basing that on your uses, not the typical user. You only have it because of the name, not to get the full potential out of it so you wont understand :thumb:

JackClark 22 December 2016 11:42 AM

I'd say my usage was pretty typical, verging on the advanced.

I certainly don't have them because of the name, I have them because they allow me to do my job reliably.

On-the-bog 22 December 2016 11:58 AM

jack they could add £1000 onto the price and you'd say it was a good thing. You really are living in a dream world.

Living in a dream world, not really, I'm sat here editing shipping rules on a website I built four years ago using this same computer from 2008. That's no dream, but it's a less bitter pill to swallow because my equipment has been reliable and hassle free all this time, easily £1000 worth of time saved.

Actually I tell a lie, I've only had this 08 machine for a couple of years, it was a free upgrade from the 05 machine I used to built the sites, hoping for another similar upgrade soon.

neil-h 22 December 2016 09:31 PM

Haven't you got some Googling to be doing? I'm sure there's some new juicy bit of a Apple click bait you can go and find.

JackClark 23 December 2016 08:40 AM

Content blockers are "silly" LOL.

Love your facts Custard Pie, like your 3 day battery life.

when I realized that I think Apple is really lost right now.

You might want to go and check what a fact is, as that link is quite clearly an oppinion piece. :thumb:

matt-c 23 December 2016 09:51 AM

Maybe we should all have a whip round and get together enough money for toffee to finally purchase all the apple products which are secretly coveted.

I can literally see no other reason for this behaviour. I mean, i think android stuff is rubbish, but i don't feel the need to go on about it.

Be angry about Syria or something, Apple just make computers you claim to think are overpriced junk, not really something worth wasting your time on is it ??

Well that doesn't work, especially when you consider that you pay more for the laptop that is essentially the same and get less. If those ports were defunct, then you would have an argument for removing those ports, but they're not defunct and still very much current SD Card readers and USB is still widely used, if they weren't why have dongles in the first place! Chances are those dongles will get lost or broken in any case. What's next for the next generation Macbook, no keyboard because it's "old tech"? :lol1:

JackClark 23 December 2016 08:33 PM

Maybe you still plug things in all the time but you're old school. You have to think ahead, Apple are good at that. Yes they're still widely used, as are the laptops of the same era, but they're dying, wireless is far better and people store stuff on other people's computers.

Did you know that Apple had to work pretty hard to get so many USB sockets on the new MacBook. It's all very complex. Give it a few years and it will be normal.

I'm sure Samsung will include headphones and a dongle with the S8, if they can stop it from exploding.
