I voted to stay in but after reading this new blackmail attempt from the EU I would not give them any of the stupid cash they are after and just take our chances with global trading rules as the EU also needs to give us permission before we can set up a trade agreement with any other country outside of the EU.

They are saying no trade agreement unless they allow migrants to have full citizen rights all the way thru the transition period.

aren't they saying we can negotiate new trade agreements, but they can't come into force whilst we are part of the SM and CU

the fact that we would not be allowed to have a working bilateral FTA with a third country and yet still be in the EU CU is obvious to anyone with even the simplest grasp of international trade law

and the EU have been pretty consistent in that we cannot enjoy the advantages of the SM without respecting the 4 freedoms

and during the transition we will enjoy the benefit's

we have asked for this transition after all

It's got nothing to do with 'permission' Steve. It's the treaty that we signed up to.

David Davis: Brexit will not plunge Britain into 'Mad Max dystopia'

That's a shame.

I was so looking forward to tracking down my ol' V8 Interceptor, zippin' on my leathers and going back to being a Road Warrior.

amazing that we have gone from unicorns and sunlit uplands

(Davis saying we would have numerous trade deals ready to be signed etc)

to "not as shoite as they said it would be"

Just a quick update on this clusterfvck

The UK government have spent 8 hours yesterday coming up the a “cunning plan” – well 2 out of 10 for awareness on the need for a plan

This cunning plan is known officially as “managed divergence” to anyone without a mental illness it is known as “cherry picking” and "cake and eat it" bollox

But as any sentient snetter will know – as it was endlessly discussed on the EUreferendum thread, this is simply delusional nonsense

So no surprise that less than 12 hrs later the EU respond thus

““I am glad the UK government seems to be moving towards a more detailed position. However if the media reports are correct I am afraid the UK position today is based on pure illusion. It looks like the cake [and eat it] philosophy is still alive.
“From the very start it has been a set principle of the EU27 that there cannot be any cherrypicking of single market à la carte. This will continue to be a key principle, I have no doubt.”

To further add the EU release the following information a few weeks ago
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/site...ory_issues.pdf

slides 29 and 30 are interesting - especially for the car industry in the NE

on exit

UK leaves the EU's integrated regulatory and supervisory
system
• UK Type-Approval authority no longer an EU authority:
Can no longer issue new approvals or revisions/extensions of
existing approvals (loss of competence under EU law)
Can no longer perform any supervisory functions or activities in
relation to existing approvals (e.g. conformity of production,
implementation of corrective measures resulting from market
surveillance)
● End of recognition of UK Type-Approvals – no mutual recognition

just sit back – take your time and digest the above

for clarity

CARS MADE IN THE UK WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE SOLD IN THE EU - FULL ****ING STOP

to add there is a similar one (google "EU notice to stakeholder") on the transport/haulage industry that simply states that the licence to operate a road haulage business in the EU will cease on midnight 29th March 2019

actually **** google

here it is

https://ec.europa.eu/transport/sites...-transport.pdf

The key issue is a hapless government desparately trying to stitch together at least 4 different visions of Brexit (from various factions with the Tory Party). The hopeless PM knows there's not a majority in the Commons for any of these options.

A really great negotiation position, it is not.

It's hard to see how the government will not fall over this.

If I'm being reasonable, it's the hand they've been dealt.

We voted to leave they're now having to deal with the reality of what that means.

The fundamental issue they're wrestling with, is that without lots of cake 'having' and 'eating', we're going to do significant damage to our economy.

It's not actually their fault, it's the bunch of backward brain dead, gullible idiots that voted for this nonsense in the first place.

I'm going to even be more scathing, if as a result of this madness we end up with Corbyn as PM.

However if the media reports are correct
I stopped reading at that point:

Why are these 'officials' relying on the Daily Mail (et al)?

Again just a load of huff and puff from both sides with the media clamouring to put their own opinionistic skew on it.

We won't be allowed to have any form of deal with the EU that simultaneously allows us to have our own individual deals with non-EU countries without some sort of tariffs or sanction (and therefore not free trade etc). End of. That's an opinion by the way. Something lost and confused with fact within many media outlets.

It's heading that way.

However I do believe he won't achieve anywhere near what he envisages, as the Lords will block as much of it as possible (unless he finds a way to disband or circumvent it).

'The many' (not the few) are a highly impatient bunch and will be revolting within a few months of Corbyn becoming prime minister.

Err not really Martin

Mrs May delivered her Lancaster house speech where she set her red lines

The red lines she announced have simple consequences- please see the relevant EU produced slide from my link

It is not rocket science, and the slide is months old - they could not be more clearer

In addition it was May, egged on by Rees Morgue et al who invoked A50 and set the clock ticking

When she clearly had zero clue what she or her government where doing - all we get is delusional rhetoric
