Yeah I was a massive fan of HTC's way back, 10years+ ago. I think I'd have to have a look and trial some of these units at a store. The last time I used one it was running an MS OS but it actually worked, when everyone was complaining about them not working.
I'll have to do some physical shopping, then. Goddammit. Have to deal with those guys at BestBuy.
That's a point, I think I missed this bit but where will Pixel's sell? Anywhere particular?

Definitely not nuts, I think I could do it as I have an iPad which covers most of the apps I like and purchased. Everything else is easy for me as I'm heavily invested in Google services, Google apps on iOS are very, very good.
Get the Pixel, I'm pretty sure most Nexus customers were happy enough and there are clear benefits of tighter control of software and hardware... in a good way not a tin hat way.
I won't miss the headphone jack as much as I'm going to like my new headphones. I heard that Bose would do a trade in on my QC's so that might happen.

My Brother had a Nexus tablet thing I bought him, that lasted a good while, seemed pretty cool.

Best way to go tbh. As long as you buy the full fat version (rather than the mini or whatever they call it now) then you won't really go far wrong. Contrary to what TP would have you believe, you'll struggle to buy a crap smartphone these days.

I've put my name down for an Elephone R9 ($229), was tempted by the LG V10 but it's battery life isn't as good as it needs to be.
I've had an Elephone p7000 for the last year and a half but I've finally killed it after a heavy drop onto concrete, could fix it but it only cost $149 originally so I've had decent value out of it.
The Elephone P20 might be worth waiting for, but meantime I'll give the R9 a try, might even be tempted to try the Elephone S7 as well.
Elephone are still a bit of a gamble, but they're trying hard to get into the big league with nice designs and full features.

iphones are over priced, period. They dont necessarily hold better value. In fact a quick check on ebay showed Galaxy Note 5s going for as much, indeed more than a iPhone 6S plus, I saw some 6s Plus models going for dirt cheap, even a 128GB.
To me it seems if Anything that iPhone has lost value as it cost far more than the 64GB Note 5 on launch, like most iPhones do.
£1000 for a 256GB iPhone 7 is insane, the actual cost of that memory is about $13 so dont be put off that fact you are getting a device with a whopping 256GB of storage.

UFS storage is as fast as SSD drives and will be out soon, nothing wrong with removabale storage its very nice to have all your music ,tv shows, ebooks and movies put onto a sd card from your laptop or NAS ahead of a trip or weekend away.

?? for the extra space dummy, pay less for a phone with a smaller amount of internal storage, for arguments sake say 32GB then pay a pittance for the extra 128GB or larger sdcard. And the speed difference in real life is unnoticeable when accessing the sdcard, well it is with the s7e. Then if i wish to take stuff off the sdcard to say a PC or anywhere else, you just use an app either wirelessly or wired to do so. Having said that you don't really need to bother as yknow everything is on the cloud, unless you are OCD about backups.

Yeah, hopefully they will eventually, so I can actually test drive one. Or I will have to just wait 'til someone I know gets one and check theirs out. Buying a $700+ phone with no idea how it will function is not high on my list.

Removable storage is still a useful option, for sure. I can't see what is wrong with having that option. The argument of "well others haven't/don't have that option" is no argument at all.

Useful for some I'm sure but even gum forger admits that once it's in the device it doesn't come out. So that just leaves costs and well... you get what you pay for.
