the cynic in me says that hollowed out plastic does not constitute a stereo sound system.
To appease the flock of fanboys this is more than adequate, as demonstrated here.
the shareholders are having a field day, i wonder what they will get away with next
fobbing off stereo sound when in fact it doesnt have it - check
removal of the 3.5" jack - check
Pay attention to the circles emanating from each end of the iPhone, that's a representation of sound, stereo sound. Sorry for using big words.
Edited to add "Good morning, here's your custard pie."

Surprised you are not holed up in some office looking over peasants in cupertino tbh, you would be awesome for Apple.
pay special attention to this Jack, again i used bold for the benefif of iSheep.
from the amazing google
what is stereo sound?
This is usually achieved by using two or more independent audio channels through a configuration of two or more loudspeakers (or stereo headphones) in such a way as to create the impression of sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing.
Apple have made mugs of you, and only can they flog of a device in 2 shades of black also.
now excuse me, I have better things to do than waste time engaging with iSheep
It’s like men having nipples – Apple’s latest iPhone has failed to fully evolve after eagle-eyed fans spotted one unnecessary feature.

Adjusting to the absence of a headphone socket is one thing, but now iPhone 7 owners who picked up the latest model yesterday found a row of speaker holes in its place – but there’s something not right.
A teardown repair company decided to take the device apart to check out the new hardware, but when looking behind the extra grille, no speaker was to be found.
In a YouTube video, iFixit revealed that the new second row of speaker holes lead ‘nowhere’, rendering them completely useless

I make a living working with Apple products, does that count? I've also regained a lot of time - more important than money - by convincing my family and friends to use Apple products, not sure if that counts.
The obvious follow-on to that would be whether that work in any way involves the sale or commercial promotion of their products.
refusing to accept the smallest or weakest mistake in an Apple product.
Stereo means deux speakers, at least.
iPhone 7 doesnt have them
get over it.
anyway the protruding camera is not all that spesh either.
Apple can confuse people like you by having 2 shades of black so its straight forward to them to pass of a product with amazing stereo sound when in fact its an illusion.
damn, that must hurt.

now you are as ironic as Neil who got in a huff when ever I said the A word.
so lets get this right
Neil uses a HTC but seems to exhibit strong fanboy symptoms
Jack is clearly an iSheep fanatic but sells google products.
erm...

Again, what kind of sucker would accept the stereo moniker for a phone with two speakers mounted on the bottom
Oh, you would
Oh, you would

Although the intro was amusing I'll be taking anything Ali G says with a pinch of salt, know what I mean star.
Dude
From that article linked
"If you think putting another grille without no actual speaker in it is kind of dumb, then you don’t know Apple. I perfectly understand why they’ve done this: symmetry
Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, who has reviewed both new iPhones, acknowledged as much, saying this about the new stereo speaker setup:
The new speakers are great. Up until now, there was only one speaker on any iPhone, on the bottom right. The iPhones 7 now have a second speaker—the earpiece for phone calls now doubles as a proper audio speaker.
There are holes machined on the bottom, where the whatchamacallit jack used to go, that most people will think are another bottom-side speaker, but they’re just there for visual symmetry.
Gruber goes on to note that the new speakers are much louder even though they’re “on different axes” and it becomes especially evident when using an iPhone 7 in speakerphone mode. In addition to delivering two times the volume of the iPhone 6s, Apple claims the iPhone 7’s stereo system also provides “increased dynamic range.”
And because the new phones use speakers at the top and bottom of the handset, you will best experience stereo sound in landscape orientation.
There’s just one point to be made before I sign off: because it uses the earpiece instead of a second edge-mounted speaker to form stereo sound, the iPhone 7 won’t deliver as consistent stereo channel separation as your headphones.
In other words, in order to pick out discrete stereo channels your head should not be at a distance greater than about four feet from the device itself, according to audio engineers who spoke with AppleInsider."
and
"As confirmed by iFixit’s teardown analysis of the iPhone 7 Plus, the new speaker grille at the bottom houses a second mic, while the two times louder earpiece at the top of the device is used alongside the bottom speaker to form stereo sound"
Perhaps you are being confused by the terminology used, or what constitutes a "speaker" or what "stereo" actually means"?
The earpiece is, in fact, a speaker.

Once again, only in your funny little world.
Who gives a flying toss about whether it is stereo or not, the sound is still cr@p coming out of the phones speakers, in fact it's cr@p for all phones. They in no way match the quality you get with headphones, evidence? just plug in your regular pair and see what I mean....oh wait.......

I popped into a store on the weekend to see the fuss surrounding the new iPhone 7's and I wasn't impressed. I can see no real benefit in upgrading with what the latest iPhone has to offer. For all intents and purposes it's nothing more than just an iPhone 6/6s that now comes as a shiny black model and minus headphone socket. Any improvements in processing power and camera quality is marginal and in most everyday scenarios you won't notice enough of an improvement to warrant forking out several hundred pounds for. In fact its probably better to get the 6s now that it's cheaper, though you'll have to be quick if you want a 64gb as Apple have cleverly done away with this model so as to not compete with the iphone7 32gb. Hopefully iPhone 8 will be worth the wait...I'm guessing many will be doing the same too.
