I've made 3 separate claims over the past 12 months. I used a PPI search firm to do the initial checks. They don't take a penny if you choose to pursue the actual claim yourself, which is what I did.

I've been with Lloyds Bank since I started work and had a few loans and a credit card with them. The PPI firm confirmed I had PPI on 2 of my loans and my credit card. A short call to LLoyds and they confirmed the loans and card details and would 'investigate' A couple of weeks later I had a letter and a cheque for £2400

I then used the same company to do a search on the previous credit cards I had. Again they found I had PPI. As with the Lloyds procedure, a few phone calls, paperwork and 3 further cheques for a total of £2250

The mortgage claims followed the same procedure and in December I got a further £4100 back.

£45k!!! Jeez how big must have someones actual debts been if they'd managed to rack up £45k just in PPI payments on them.

I had PPI for a year with nationwide and 4yrs with Halifax. Both wanted account numbers and other info - of which I couldn’t give them for me to take the claim seriously enough.

Bonus.

Can't believe it!...

Out of the blue, on Friday, I come home to see a letter from CapitalOne on the mat. I nearly binned it, as it looked very much like a load of bumph, that you often receive. But I decided to open it.....only to be confronted with a letter:

"...we will be sending you a cheque for £758.92* in the next 15 days..."

I never expected that!

So, I will have snared a shade under £1600...effectively on a whim.

It's well worth pursuing, folks...

* That'll effectively pay for last week's bloody taxis, car hire and punctured tyre/garage work! Kind of like it was 'meant to be'......

I had an old PPI policy on mortgage with nationwide(approx 25 years ago).
I've tried the Martin Lewis trick, and it seems they're not playing ball.
I rang up asking for an update, as i was expecting to hear back by end of May.
On the 20th June, the girl says we'll send the report again.
They've sent me a report now two times, and i still haven't received it.
Rang again today, sending it first class today she says

Now, i don't normally have postal problems, generally if I'm expecting something it turns up.

They wouldn't tell me much on the phone, just that the handler didn't think there was a justified claim, and the report would tell me everything I needed to know.

Time will tell...........

Tried contacting nationwide again, when I finally received the report.
Ultimately they didn't want to know really.
Have escalated to the financial ombudsman.

One thing which I did tell them was the letter they sent was dated 05/04/2018, i.e. the date from when the 6 month limit starts.
This letter is dated before my initial complaint to them - cheeky *******

I had a call today saying one of mine for a mortgage and a loan has come back as having had PPI. They just needed to ask me a few questions and the claim is in, no idea how much it is for or any details other than which lender it was with. Now just got to wait i'll be happy with anything back to be honest. Glad I filled the forms out and bothered now.
