PPI?
Has anyone actually claimed for this?
Did you do it direct or via a claims company? In my younger days, I used car finance to buy cars. Can you claim off them? or is it if you just took out a bank loan? Always ignored PPI before, so don't have a clue. Cheers |
Never got any PPI
I did get a few years worth of Packaged Bank Account fees back tho approx £1100 http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...-bank-accounts Worth a try if you pay for your current account but don't use any benefits, |

Cheers Lloyds did a recalculation on mine and I received another £1500 recently. :thumb::thumb: The website for the Financial Ombudsman have all you need to know. |
That site i linked to has all the standard letters which you just fill in the blanks and send away, companies who claim to get you more are a scam

From that site downloaded the letters, filled them in and sent off.... easy
The only bank that disputed, I put a case to the ombudsman (again using downloaded letter ) Ombudsman found in my favour. :thumb: |
Worth the time to fill out and send off doesn't take long at all

Just contact the bank you think you had the PPI from and ask them.
For example, my step-son asked Barclays about his via e-mail on a Friday and, somewhat incredibly, had a cheque by the following Tuesday. Others he asked took longer, but in each case they did all the work and he got money refunded from them all. All the 'PPI reclaim' companies are parasitical scum playing on people's ignorance. Incidentally, I asked Santander about it for myself as I seemed to remember having it with my mortgage. It took three months, and I received a 1/4" thick report explaining in great detail how I'd asked for it, including all the paperwork I'd signed saying I wanted it! Surprisingly, I didn't get a refund for that.... |
Tesco bank contacted me a few years ago with a cheque for £1000 .. ok then
|
I got £5.5k off HFC about 3yrs ago, and I'm currently trying to get some off Capital one which should pay out as I was self employed at the time as was the case with HFC, gona have a go with a gold card account I used to have with TSB too which was all around the same time, so hoping santa is gona bring me something nice this year. :lol1:

I can recommend:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com simple form to fill out and just sit back and wait. If you're not entitled to anything, they just say 'we have checked and the answers no' Otherwise they just send you money - you can't lose. We got about £3000 back from a mortgage |

Still, £720 is better than a kick in the teeth (esp. as I fully expected the claim to simply die on its classic arse lol) |
Defiantly don't use the scam recovery company's,as mentioned above use the Martian Lewis forms and claim that way.

**** a classic duck!!
For him, DIY would've defo been worthwhile! He spent all his life in debt,to the point of spending the last 10 years paying off via debt management company, just finished paying it and landed 45k ppi. He spent 25k doing his council house up including a jacuzzi(in sunny Huddersfield),holidays and posh trainers, blew it in less than a year, now has just got in 350£ a month debt for a Kia! Thick as fook  |
LOL
How much was his full debt payoff, inc. interest? Quite a bit more than 45k, I'll bet? Jeeez. Still, at least he paid it all off...... And then landed a ****-off 'unexpected' windfall. Fair play to him. ...Shame he's ****ed it all off though, and ended up back to square one. The flaming crank. :cuckoo: LOL |
Decided to look into this before the deadline, i'm certain I didn't have any but wondering if I got stung with any I didn't know about. However how are you supposed to remember who you had accounts with and the details etc when it could be over 20 years ago?!
If you use one of the claims companies what info do you have to give them? I'm thinking about giving up before even starting as I don't have details for mortgages/credit cards etc I had in my 20s  |

There is a new easier way which is free and set up by Martian Lewis afaik,it's called resolver, easy to do and if you can't remember which banks then do them all,no cost and nothing to lose.

I couldn't be arsed with Martin Lewis's 'DIY/3 letters' thing, so, at the time, just googled PPI companies. And the best one that came up was Sunshine Claims, who were NWNF or 'only' 10% if you did win. So, I'll have to pay them 80 sovs somewhere down the line.
Still, £720 is better than a kick in the teeth (esp. as I fully expected the claim to simply die on its classic arse lol) |

They said no to me, but it's pretty much a standard response, but they had charged me for it, I hadn't agreed to it, they paid out in the end. |
From further reading it looks like you need paperwork relating to the loans/mortgages etc or they will just refuse any claim as you have no proof. Well I only keep that for the last few years not 20 years ago ffs so utter waste of time. Back to ignoring it and forgetting all about it

Had just found that on the website using the link above but again need to print out individual letters etc and I really can't be bothered so there are companies only charging 10% so i'm happy to pay that. I doubt i'm owed even £400 if anything so happy to pay them £40 if I did get paid out for doing the checking for me.

Egg was one I can remember but they've traded hands so many times who would you call?! They were the worst for miss-selling PPI which is why I wondered if it was worth checking, think I had a credit card with them for about a year or two so again hardly going to be much of a payout even if they did stiff me.
|
You'd be surprised how much you get,It's what you paid plus interest plus some other stuff, can't remember the ins and outs? Don't think I'm owed awt tbh but our lass said might as well for the sake of it lol
|
Well done a free check with one of these claims companies with no obligation. Will wait for the paperwork and if it's too much bother i'll just bin it off. I've had shed loads of different providers since about mid 90s as always used short terms deals then moved onto the next best deal so I can't remember who and when i've used so if a claim company can do a check on a potential long list I just tick then rather them do the leg work than me. I'm 99% certain i'll get nothing back as I always refused PPI so it would only be if it was charged to me not knowing. One 2 year mortgage deal does play on my mind with potentially forcing the protection on me as part of getting the deal but again so long ago I can't remember who or when it was
