I seem to vaugly remember that one of the reasons why search was hogging so many resources was because of a 'feature' of a microsoft product that SN uses. Until this 'feature' is changed then search will always be a liability to SN. Since microsoft products are feature rich then I don't see it being altered in the short term

Of course I could well be wrong and my memory tends to have more holes than a sieve, so any slight on Microsoft or SN is more likely down to my duff recall than the facts..
