I don't see how the scoop creates unwanted under bonnet pressure. Air flows into the scoop, over the cool side hard pipe and turbo then out past the gearbox, cooling everything as it goes. Relying on 'heat rising' to vent hot air from the engine doesn't sound a very efficient way to keep temperatures down.

It actually increases under bonnet temps, I find my car is running 10 to 15 degrees hotter with a reverse scoop

Get the magma shield from thermal velocity, it's supposed to be better. I got some for my hot side intercooler pipe, although it looks a bit gypsy, I hoping it's doing something rarther than looks

I wouldn't direct a intake pipe right upto the filter either like above pic, I'd move it back a bit 10-20cms or so, so the suction can work better from filter and gets a equal amount or air.
(Luckily I can just pull my morrettes out

I'm sure it does. Searchable (from a good few years back) there was a lot of discussion between the late Harvey Smith, Andy Forest and others regarding FMICs and the retaining (or not) of the standard scoop. Many differing opinions!
Also, re pressurising the engine bay, presumably the airflow through the FMIC/radiator must go somewhere, especially if the under engine cover is still in place.

I would possibly fit if i had manifold off for a reason, but is it worth changing for thermal gaskets alone ??

Car looks mint underneath with those braces etc.
Mine were already done when I bought the car...2 reasons really, first being for an aftermarket turbo inlet(larger) gives more room under the manifold if standard position and also stops heat transfer from the block into the inlet manifold...same principle for the header tank spacer, all the little things can make a big difference imo

Any idea where I can get header tank insulating spacers from?

Thanks Steve

My car suffers quite badly from temperature increase after a couple of hard pulls.

Generally the ACT temp goes from around 20c to 50-60c very quickly. Temp sensor is tapped into the TMIC.

Manifold is wrapped, have a PTP lava turbo blanket and standard scoop.

Intake is a RAM Air cone.

Apart from going FMIC, manifold spacers, header tank spacers, is there anything that can be done to reduce temps?

What about the coolant that is constantly being pushed around the throttle body? Ive heard of a few people blocking off the coolant pipes going into and out of the throttle body. I don't think it gets cold enough in this country for the throttle body to be heated!

Two pipes, one into the back of the throttle body and one into the ICV will have been removed and either capped off where they came from or joined together, capped off gives a cleaner bay but both give the same results, it's a 5 min mod

I've often thought of the throttle body coolant mod but I believe the U.K. Is colder than it is hotter , I find it hard to believe the coolant increases air temp that much to matter around the throttle since the heat soak of the alloy is that much without coolant it's a marmite mod

Re. the TB coolant bypass mod...

Has anyone who's done it, suffered from TB icing in the depths of (a suitably cold) winter?
