Our new Foreign Secretary and his friends kept on telling us that Turkey were about to join the EU (even though he is on record as advocating this).
Anyone with half a brain knew this was bollox, but hey it doesn't matter now.
Turkey will not join the EU in my lifetime. In fact the UK is far more likely to rejoin the EU than Turkey ever is of joining.

It nevertheless shows the importance of flagging a Turkey entry to the EU as a potential disaster. But tying Turkey to the West via the EU was of far greater strategic importance than any trading considerations.

And in your lifetime there's a fair chance the EU will cease to exist in its present form.

Martin, your naivetee knows no bounds.

If the west thinks having Turkey IN is a good thing, they will be allowed in. Rules will be ignored, or changed to facilitate.

You KNOW I'm talking sense.

Greece and the €?
The Irish referendum?

You are not talking sense. You are just repeating the rubish endlessly stated before the referendum.
