Where would I get one? Data logging would actually be a godsend because my CEL goes off every time I restart the car so it's impossible to tell half the time.
Would the data logging show my boost coming on late etc? and maybe if its a fuel issue or a boost issue etc?

Data logging will show you all the parameters, fuel, boost, ignition etc.
I will show all CEL errors on a table so you don't have to count flashes.

Give Andy a ring at Enduring solutions or email him, could even Pm him as he's a member on here,Andy Stevens. Very helpful he is too as he is one of the ESL developer/designers

Interesting thread, i seem to have the same problem.
at 5k rpm the turbo kicks in.
Feels like the thrust of a jet engine that kicks in.
Which software do you guys use to analyse the log?
Esl manual talks about deltadash demo.

epifan logviewer is decent though you have to buy it (only 25 dollars tho!)
http://www.epifansoft.com/logViewer-...ns-prices.html

you can also upload it online to DataZap
http://datazap.me/
and do some quick charts there for free (though using an adblocker is recommended)

Failing that excel is good for some charts and graphs if your handy with it - there's a custom excel sheet by Airboy :
http://www.romraider.com/forum/topic957.html
Which will do some handy charts for you and a little dyno function along with some other nice things.

aye , big thrust at ~6krpm for me too..

will be getting my mapper to go for a 'spirited' drive in it sometime in the next few weeks and see what his prognosis is.

It couldnt be this could it:

"As the EPA and the powers that be mandated stricter emission laws the system was refined more and more ultimately evolving into what we have today. A completely sealed system that uses the vacuum provided by the intake manifold to draw these vapors out, and the filtered fresh makeup air is drawn from the main air intake system and filtered by the main air filter. This results in very clean emissions, but the unintended issues are the detonation or “knock” that occurs when oil is introduced into the combustion chamber that the knock sensors pick up (before we can hear it) and pull timing to protect the engine from damage, and thus reduced power"

found this when researching oil catch cans

so maybe something to do with cleaning the intake manifold and installing a catch can for cure then prevention?

i noticed this with my hawk fitting the catch can definitely helps clean things up on the intercooler side - but for your problem it would depend why the power surge comes so late. If it's knock sensor pulling a load of timing then it may help a little bit (intercooler would need to be heavily oiled - maybe blocked PCV?) but if it's lack of boost up to that point (and assuming the car isn't in limp mode) then something either in the WGDC/target boost table or a mechanical fault would be where I'm looking.
