4ZERO is probably the most advanced speed trap detect or around. First of all it incorporates a highly sensitive laser detector designed to alert you to all types of mobile laser guns. By utlising our extensive experience and knowledge built up over 35 years, Snooper's laser detection technology is more accurate than ever, giving longer detection ranges and more advanced pre-warning, providing drivers with more time to slow down and reduce hard breaking.
To be honest, im not 100% sure how it works, I just know that it does, or did for me.

mmm, OK

I am sure it works for Radar

and Laser for that matter, I just suspect it can't detect "laser" unless it has been pointed at you - at which point you would need pretty fast reactions

I could be wrong though

It always gave me plenty of warning before vans with laser guns pointing to the roads. No harsh braking needed.

I've got its predecessor, the 3ZERO.

They do both have laser detection (as well as lidar, I believe). But, hodgy, I think your right - I cant see how it can "beat" a laser gun in time for you to be able to do anything about it(??) But I've never actually been in a scenario yet, to see if it worked or not, ha ha.

TBH, even though I have it on, I rarely take notice... I just tend to use it as a digital speedo these days lol

It would all depend on how long the laser-gun operator needs to maintain a fix on you before they get a legally enforceable reading. I'm sure there must be info on this somewhere around the web.

Yup, maybe it can detect a fix before the operator has had time to get his **** together

I would assume with a laser gun the actual speed reading would be almost instantaneous - speed of light no less

Let's kill this dead.
There is absolutely no chance a laser detector will help you in any way. The laser beam from a speed gun has little scatter so the detector sat on your dash or hanging off the windscreen will likely not even trigger as the laser will be targetting your number plate or your headlights. If by chance you get an alert you'll have about 0.3 seconds to slow down. It ain't happening.
If you want protection against laser then you need a dedicated jammer, which will get you in a lot of bother if they catch you with it. It works.

This is exactly what my mate iterated (he looked into it, reasonably in depth).

Yes, with my very basic grasp of physics I thought it might be the case

How do jammers work then?

By the time any laser detector warns you that laser is being used, its too late! With the exception of detecting laser scatter. They are useless.

A blinder is the only defence against laser.

A blinder simply fires back a more powerful beam than the laser speed gun. Confusing the laser gun.

Of course, illegal to use, unless you are using it to remotely operate a device such as a garage door, or automatic lighting upon arrival to your home.
