SO - for the record I have posted on this very forum my experiences with "scousers", both directly when supporting Arsenal and generally living (and growing up - and born) in London for 40 years

you can search for them if you wish - but they are not "glowing"

so lets get that out of the way

my comments on this thread are simply my view on the facts, not what I personally think of "scousers" - so sorry, try again

I and I repeat I am not apportioning "blame"

I am simply backing up the view of a Jury that has sat through 2 years of evidence, a Jury that has heard the facts free of institutional bias and deception

they came to the view that the Liverpool supporters were in NO way to blame, but simply people exercising a right to go to a football match in safety

fine - you think they were in some way to blame - I get that

the jury did not
Personal attacks? How on earth did you come to that conclusion?

I've never heard that the word 'scouser' is in the same league as many other derogatory terms to mock people's regional and cultural identity; well, unless the intention is to mock the Liverpudlians, by chucking this term out. Many people tell me casually at their normal ease that they're scousers and I when I call them scousers in some relevant conversation, they don't flinch either. It's not because they don't have any dignity about them, but it's to do with the term 'scouser' being well-accepted to refer to such.

Why take the term 'scouser' (if definitely not spoken to put you down but simply with the curiosity due to your sympathy towards them, in this particular case) as a personal insult, unless you feel that the scousers are beneath you?

@ turbohot

it was not the accusation of being a scouser I did not like

it was the accusation that I would let the facts (and my views regarding those) as being influenced by where I am from - or not

if you don't understand that - read the thread again

No I do understand it. I'm liking your stance of defending the justice, and I'm with you on that. It's just that Neil's post, in which he questions you if you were a scouser, didn't contain the insulting sentiment at all, that's all.

However, well done with your very reasonable arguments on this thread. It's not the first time the police corruption has been proven to be a corruption, and it won't be the last time. Arrogant Police will defend themselves, and the more they do, the more mass antipathy they will create for themselves.

No worries. I only asked as the vast majority of people that so strongly defend the fans have some tie to either the team and/or the city.
