Another 50P extra a litre is alot, i remember many on here selling theres as they couldn't afford to use as a daily driver. Not saying its the only reason, but i bet you the base models would drop like a brick, easy loose a few grand off the price.

 

Ive got a v3 type r wont take anything less than 9.5k at the moment but will be worth more in the next few years .

 

When the petrol gets too dear it'll weed out all the chavs going round mutilating decent Subarus. They'll have to sell up (cheap) or break , which may lower the value of all subarus but if you can hold on to a nice one they will be a rarity as the rest will be rotting away somewhere or in bits.

 

Totally disagree dude just because one has money doesn't necessarily mean they have taste infact I think the chaviness is based on ones opinion to the others but when you see an e36 coupe with a scooby vent glued on it that to me is chaviness infact if your skint you won't be doing much chaviness on much as it'll be hard enough to keep up with fuel costs just my opinion dude

 

i wouldn't buy a subaru if i couldn't afford to run or maintain it, i've got a C63 and same with that 13 mpg average, you know what your buying when you buy the car.

 

Parts for classics are becoming harder to get, not basic parts but specific ones, gearboxes etc or hubs , try finding a decent TY752VB3FA gearbox ( just the normal Jdm box of a 95 WRX)

Search for a white panel part of any classic etc

Yes it has massively effected the prices. In 2014 Nov-Dec i was hunting around for another classic, i watched Impreza P1's sell for around 5-6k mark. Saw a number of type r's go for 4k. Petrol was at £1.40+ 12 months ago

And 12 months on and Nov-Dec i looked about for some bargains none to be had. Struggled to find a type r under 6k and P1's no chance cheapest 9k mark. Petrol was under £1.00 a litre, so your saying that had nothing to do with it?

That's crazy. Gone up in price by 2k with more miles. It's price of fuel. Do you wish you had kept it now.

 

Not because its up for sale by a extra £2k, as I would have spent well over that in buying more mods But I sold that car for a Golf R and that got stolen 3 weeks later So I kind of wish I kept it and not bothered with the R

 

The trouble is, a lot of people don't really have a clue how much they cost to run, that's what there are a lot of multi owner cars out there.

Another example is the BMW M5, seriously considered one - but the running costs are way too much for what I would use it for.

 

I would love an Aston Martin, some of the Vantage V8's are nicely priced under 40k now but again, annual servicing is around 3-5k if it needs anything serious doing to it from a dealer but god, what a sexy machine

Now most of your average subaru owner's just cannot afford to run the cars properly, that includes missing essential parts out of the service schedule (if serviced at all), cheap tyres, worn 2nd hand parts, poor quality fuels etc, so only those enthusiasts who spend the money will have a car that is worth anything tbh.

........and some mug will probably buy that on the never never because £150 a month is nothing compared to splashing out 9K in one hit. Then the flip side is, Mr private seller see's this and advertises a similar car for 8k and so on and so on.

The above is the reason prices are so high, traders chancing their arm and people being sucked in with weekly payment plans.

My E30 M3 was worth 5k in 1998 now priced at around 30k I guess its due to those fuel prices PMSL

You need to make your mind up, 1st you quote classic prices now subarus in general, like my original quote "shouldn't effect the classics".
I for 1 wouldn't sell my Type r due to fuel prices, but that is just me

 

Thats correct Impreza prices in general not just P1 or Type R's, although the type r's are still being imported.

I'm not saying that other things like breakers breaking them won't help, and that prices normally don't go up for rarer cars, but prices started to increase rapidly as fuel started going below a certain number. When fuel prices hit £1.40 we had quite alot of people sell there impreza's as couldn't afford to run them as a daily driver.
