I would also point out that Toyota owns 16.5% of FHI

Toyota actually did most of the development and design, Subaru supplied the engine. And manufacturing plant.

It was in the contract, Toyota got the lions share of the stock to begin with.
Toyota were also offering a 5 year warranty compared to Subarus 3 year warranty. However, everything is now on a level playing field.

I'm sure you're right, although like all such inter-company collaborations it seems quite difficult to discover exactly who did what and when. Quite a lot of conflict to begin with apparently. You're right about the engine of course, and Subaru build them in Japan and the US.
Getting back to the theme of the thread, will the typical BRZ owner visit ScoobyNet and revitalise it? It seems unlikely.

How about the new WRX STI? Surely this is selling well?
£28,000 ish is a lot of car for the money isn't it?
And back up to around 300BHP

Oh but have they sorted out that 2.5ltr engine out now?

Nope, same old engine that has had endless failures since it first appeared.

Combination of things

Mainly 09 + and Subaru ruined everything with the chocolate pistons
You should not have to pay 25-33k on a car and it's engine blow up under 50k miles
So nothing for people to save up and buy in the future

Clubs have all lost members as people grow up and have kids ,smarter/ faster /more reliable / more modern / more economical cars
The future for clubs is like B-SPOC a thriving club with same petrolheads but variety of cars

Fb is killing all forums as its easier to post and add photos onto fb

Chavs have dragged subarus down market

But there is light at the end of the tunnel

Chavs don't ask about dump valves / fake roof vents etc Anymore as they are riducled and disspaear to their tracksuit and oversized trainers and teenage girlfriend they met in mcdonalds car parks

Chavs have now moved onto different cars
The drug dealer with his subaru on coronation steet is under the floorboards

Cars are rusting away and only real purists will spend 2/3 times more on an ageing classic to restore it to its former glory
They will be like ford RS values soon

For 11 years I ran the Nbo and had 350 -400 cars
The last two years since my departure 120-150 turned up

Noone organises runs out anymore

Although Subarus are well Recieved at the car shows I attend now and will continue with
the purists having great memoirs of them

Oh the good ol days

I attended the first 5 NBO'S it was a great day out

And the organised runs in North Wales were epic, on one of the runs I did in just over 2 tanks of fuel in one day

I wonder why the NBO has gone down hill since you were forced out back in the day when you ran it it was a fantastic show.
I have to agree with most of your points. You get these young members who think they know everything on here against the more mature members who were impreza owners when the others were still sucking there thumbs.
For me Chavs have played a big part in putting me off the impreza as jo public and even the police tar us all with the same brush. I love and enjoy my Spec C very much it's just a shame the impreza is getting such a bad name.

Social media has put big nails in the coffins for car club forum's as it's much easier to post comments and pictures on the likes of Facebook. I feel forums need to move with the times and either make apps that are connected to the Web forums or have social media pages.

Been running my club/forum for years now and have never asked any members for money as the club generates its own funds from sponsors so never felt the need to ask members for any money , we even give out free gifts whenever we can (stickers , key rings , custom air freshens),, if the club is doing well we feel the members should benefit from it aswell as we are none profit based , members loyalty and having there Scoobs on our stand at shows and coming to meets is enough payment for us

I think the site has been brilliant since the disappearance of F1_fan lol.

I remember the Southend runs back in the mid 00's......soooooo many imprezas going along the seafront and the audiences were big. To me, this was the heyday of the impreza. I agree with the majority though, the 2.5 has been Subaru's downfall. Ironically, I own one and I love it, but knowing that it will no doubt fail at some point is always in the back of my mind......people don't want a car like that.
