The Swiss have formally withdrawn their application to join the EU, this week, I wonder why?
Yeah, their application from over 20 years ago that they made prior to the 1991 referendum where they narrowly voted to not join the EU. Since then, they have joined Schengen and signed numerous treaties with the EU for closer integration. Switzerland are clearly not planning to join the EU at the moment, so the withdrawal is a simple formality which probably should have been done years ago. It was pushed for now by a right wing Swiss minority party and only just got the required number of votes to be passed, no doubt the timing was done on purpose to help Brexit. In reality, this is a nothing story with the leave campaign clutching at straws to justify their nostalgic dream of a better Britain!

Leave take a 6% lead in the ipsos poll
"The London Evening Standard have seen the poll and point out this is the first time that the Leave campaign have come out ahead in the respected monthly Ipsos MORI telephone survey."

Really? what ties does the Leave campaign have with Switzerland? Did Johnson/Gove/Farage make a deal with Switzerland? Evidence please. It's a sad state of affairs where Leave supporters have to make such desperate claims. Who is clutching at straws here?
I'm still undecided but only because there is so much misinformation, scaremongering and untruths to sift through.

Nigel Farage is leader of the EFD group in the European Parliament who's stated goal is to break up the EU. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe...acy#Leadership
The anti EU parties work together throughout the EU including non EU members such as Switzerland and Norway to achieve their common goals. This is of course true for all like minded groups across the political spectrum, extreme right, Marxists, communists, socialist, even terrorist organisations such as the IRA working with Basque separatists and football hooligans arranging fights with their fellow foreign football hooligans.
The leave camp may not have official connections to Switzerland, but UKIP certainly does!
For information, the SVP party that pushed this recently used this poster for a recent Swiss referendum on immigration. I don't think it needs any translation!

That is actually very funny and quite an accurate representation of the picture of Europe the leave campaign is pushing! Although as we all know, Hitler would have really been Farages side

Switzerland isn't in the EFD according to your link and that poster was last used back in 2007 federal election, way before there was any hint of any Brexit campaign so there is nothing recent about it nor any tenuous link to the current EU Referendum and Brexit. Like you said, this is a nothing story.
I was nearly side swiped by the "IN" coach on the M25 when he abruptly changed into my lane whilst I was along side, luckily the lane to the right was empty....I forgot to press the save button the dash camera
Who ever did the signwriting/wrapping on the bus should have been shot...ive seen less creases in the cling film of a packed lunch sandwich

One benefit this of course is , to fill the gap, immigration from outside eu will have to increase. Good news for girlfriend's nephews . Cos otherwise it would have to be through Ireland
"It is one of the ironies of the campaign that the Brexiteers bang on constantly about Parliament’s loss of sovereignty and claim all our laws are made in Brussels. It is a lie because, as they may yet find out, the British Parliament has retained more than enough sovereignty to thwart their plans and ignore the referendum result. "
lol I pointed this out a few pages ago
tbh the worst of all worlds would be an out vote - not honoured by parliament

Well in that case , if it is indeed the will of the people, the only way it would work is if every party understands that no public will vote for them if they dont agree to exiting the EU. But I cant seem that happening either.
The Vote Leave side have requested that all campaigning be suspended following the murder of Jo *** MP. I shall abide by this and be suspending commenting further in this thread for the time being (until it is agreed to continue whenever that may be)
There would be riots if this happened. I really dont think any Parliamentarian would have the bottle to go down this road
Warren, I know you are refraining from commenting but this is not a new result. That article points out what happened in 1973

Cameron has promised to abide by the result. I hope he does if its a leave, or the next election will be a rout of many conservative and labour MPs
As above but then he used that as an election manifesto just to get elected. So every future party will do the same thing and then when it comes to crunch time ( i.e years later allow another referendum) then they will repeat the process ad infinitum until the British public give up.
