Do you know that outside our church they're building a brothel:
Scientism doesn't possess the language to battle the above. It takes passion, it takes love, it takes conviction, it takes heart, it takes courage and it takes the will of God to conquer a world in which men would rather be given hand relief than hear the word of the Lord. Spiritual warfare is afoot and the souls of men are at stake; they won't be won over by espousing a material and reductionist and soulless mantra of an indifferent universe. The poor and the downtrodden and the sexually immoral need salvation in Christ, not what you offer. You give the world to your family and I respect that, but there are valleys in South Wales that are so devoid of love that there is a market place for the kind of family wrecking filth that the picture above advertises. Don't work against Jesus, Hodgy, he came for the sick.
You've got some brass neck.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

It's strange, I woke up thinking about that very injunction and decided to check my phone. In addition to you quoting John 8:7 I'm conscious also of 1 Corinthians 5:12 where Paul says "For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?" Nonetheless, the Christian is to be a watchman! As one walks up Ogmore Vale high street there will be a stark gospel message. To the left will be a place where men can pay for a women to 'massage' them and to the right will be a small chapel where people congregate to give thanks and praise to the Creator of the universe. There is a clear and distinct choice to be made, a fleeting moment of sexual gratification or an eternity with the awesome God illustrated in the vid' I posted. One of the duties of the watchman is to warn others - I would not be doing my duty if I sat idly by. And yes, I risk being branded a hypocrite, but that's a risk I'm prepared to take. Of course if the church is nothing more than a club, if we so-called Christians do not have Jesus at the centre of our lives, then we offer the man at the crossroads little incentive to turn right. If that is the case then Jesus will remove the lamp stand and Satan will win this particular battle claiming the territory for himself. Whose side are you on, Ditch? Do you want to work with and for the Lamb or against Him? Choose wisely, sir.

Hi,
I have been silently watching this thread with interest.
I firmly believe that each person of sound mind has the right to choose what religion (or not) they would like to follow.
It is not for us to judge others who would like a little hand relief - that is their free will and choice.
If people don't require that service - then they are free to walk on by and turn the other cheek.
Some might say it is more distressing to see people quoting the bible on a street corner (as they do every lunch time in my UK home town) than to see a sign for a massage parlour.
Even the biggest sinners can repent on their death bed and then go directly to heaven - so why worry about what you do up until that point?
Cheers
Steve

I took some poetic licence in calling it a brothel, from a legal standpoint it's a 'massage parlour'.
The wording on the sign makes it pretty clear they're not expecting their primary form of business to be sorting out people's stiff necks and muscle cramps. Assuming the picture is of the actual establishment in question, of course.

That's one side of the coin, but it's the same one as illustrated by your picture. The other is that the media and society in general have been slowly and gradually ramming home the message for years that women don't actually need men any more, they just want them to be around when it suits them, and that men should be happy with this arrangement. The whole thing is probably a bit of vicious circle, but the one trend would surely not have taken hold anywhere near as firmly as it has without the other.

It's the actual establishment to be, the picture was taken by the pastor and one can literally see the sign from the pulpit. His tweet that accompanied the pic' read "If you're in the area to try this new shop, pop next door to us to hear about Jesus who is a better ending."

Has militant feminism been hoist by its own petard? I guess this depends upon who's being exploited: the men, the 'workers', neither or both. If there's no moral arbiter, there's no means of discerning right from wrong and you have a world in which our friend Steve above thinks it's of no consequence to offer money for a hand-job. This is moral relativism borne out of the nihilism that comes with the death of God in parts of our society.
I did this Jesus/bible thing when I was like 15 to 17 (pre internet) trying to make sense of the world, so you'll have to excuse my memory and distinct lack of quotes and referenced sources.
So here's a few pointers.
You need to look at the umpteen immaculate conception stories that pre-date the one of Jesus.
The 137 (I think, can't remember exact number) True Confessions that pre-date Moses and the 10 commandments.
Then you need to look at Moses, where he came from, where he was educated, what his profession was.
Like I said it's all a bit sketchy for me as that part of my journey was 35yrs ago and the beginning of my 'mind quest' for want of a better expression.
That lot is just scratching the surface of the direction you need to head in, then you need to go a lot further back than that.
Yesterday I pointed you and the rest of you to Plato as he and his crew are basically the fathers of modern christianity, but they were no different to this lot we have now, indeed what we have now is a continuation.
Anyway, I got bored with that when I was 17 so I won't be going back there.

Hi,
What is actually "wrong" with paying somebody for hand relief?
It is not going to make babies, after all!
Thinking it wrong seems to be similar to the sort of repressed view that "sex is dirty" - even amongst married, consenting, heterosexual adults.
Cheers

According to the Bible, sex between two people who love each other is to be encouraged and enjoyed. Sexual immorality is to be admonished. As far as I'm able to discern, paying money for sex is immoral. You seem to be saying that the latter is amoral (neither right nor wrong), which is your prerogative, but I'm pointing out that this an unGodly attitude. Your call, of course, I can wash my hands clean.

Hi,
Define "sex" as described in the bible - I don't think a handjob counts as sex!

The Bible doesn't explicitly define sex, but does talk of man and woman becoming 'one flesh' i.e. intercourse. If you don't think that a person stimulating another person to the point of orgasm is sex then that's entirely up to you, Steve.

what about the severely disabled or disfigured who's only sexual outlet is to use paid for sexual services

So - does that mean that a male masseuse giving a hand job to male client is OK then?
what about the severely disabled or disfigured who's only sexual outlet is to use paid for sexual services
presumably they would be denied
why should they be punished
We live in a fallen world, Hodgy, where nature has been corrupted. The logical extension of your question is: Why should anyone be denied any fleshly pleasure? Sex is a gift, not a right and obedience to Christ's commandments take primacy for the Christian irrespective of his disability. The Christian who's suffered for the Lord in this life is assured of his rewards in glory.

Absolutely. That's the justification for such outlets that my mind generated when I saw some posts on this thread this morning.
I don't think God and God's followers need to feel daunted by that massage parlour. I'm sure the ones that come into church are 'good people' with their tightly embraced principles of the Christianity that they won't be sexually aroused by something like that, anyway.
Live and let live.
PS: Just in case if one ends up there (human folly and all that), that 'one' can always beg for forgiveness afterwards and all his 'sin' will be washed away. Fantastic. So, nothing to worry about. In fact, if the church and the massage parlour join hands, and if the church starts promoting this massage parlour via distributing its sexual service leaflets, it might see a huge surge in its Christian conversion figure. The number may rise dramatically.

Good lord somebody out there does actually agree with my thought process on the matter.

I'm not entirely sure it's that simple. If it was the whole process would be entirely pointless.

Again I could be wrong but I don't think the bible says anything about going fourth and sodomising kids (Catholic version or otherwise).
Why not? Also, can't you see/hear that Christians are already doing it by talking ample about it on Twitter and other internet places? Doing it from the pulpit will be revolutionary!
Somebody needs to re-write the existing Bible and bring forth a post-modern Bible. I nominate Ditchmyster.

Hey don't bring me into it, I'm way too busy chiseling away in the mountains on the new revised version of the 10 commandments.

See, you're already at it.
Newly revised 10 commandments (genuinely carved by Ditchmyster on his wood log chopped with his bare hands that held a stone age axe, 2016):
1. Thou shall wear funky Shoes.
2. Thou shall own more than one pair of funky shoes regardless of having just two feet.
3. Thou shall own more than two pairs of funky shoes regardless of having just two God given feet to your entire body.
4. Thou shall own several pairs of funky shoes, actually. Just to look at and to line them up sometimes.
5. Thou shall always hunt your food.
6. Thou shall always eat a hand-killed animal, curried and stewed well for hours.
7. Thou shall let me tell you stories as tall as sky and as deep as the Atlantic ocean.
8. Plato was not thou friend but a total ***!
9. Thou shan't ever think that JTaylor is intelligent.
10. Thou shall cut trees in jungles and live with Jack Russell.

Interesting, but not quite what I had in mind.
Oh and the Jack Russell isn't mine I was just looking after her while she was on heat.
