[QUOTE=Turbohot;11803013]I'm humbled (kowtows). But just one thing. Please don't scribble this on your calendar or anywhere else. I can't be doing with a headache for f**k all, that's all. I just don't need that drama in my peaceful life.
But the star dust is a material, and that's not disputable, yeah? May be it is.
About 'spiritualist', you can write realms about it after you've done the dishes, if you may. With references and all that.
P.S.- Why don't you just buy a material known as a dishwasher FFS??!!
Wooden handled cutlery from grandma-in-law isn't dishwasher friendly. Or the Wedgwood serving dishes. Anyway, have a glass of wine and the music's on. Good times. x
We've guests so I don't have time to elucidate, but you lack wisdom, my friend.
All it takes is a one word answer, do you think praying works? Yes or no?
You didn't have to elucidate, I see that once again you fail to answer my question
Scared of making yourself look silly?
The simple fact is that if praying did work, it would be provable via scientific experiment, the results of the experiment could be repeated to confirm that praying did indeed work, sadly however that Is not the case or are you now going to claim it is?

WOW! You do have some fantastic materials in your home, Jimbi. Hope you've got that lantern sorted for your reading corner. I may have a glass of wine myself tonight tbf. X

Had a brilliant day today. Love our home and friends and family, so blessed. X
Or why not just pray that the dishes magically become clean? I guess it's cos u don't think that would work
My paternal nana used to tell me that God only helps who help themselves. I asked her one day- "If I have to do everything by myself anyway, then why TF do I need God for??" She said- "To keep you in line, you cocky little sh7t! ".
Mother-in-law gave me this the other day. Belonged to my partner's great-great-grandfather. Thought you might appreciate it. No doubt Bulldog and his mates will think it's to be taken literally.
Now your just being silly, praying cannot be proved to work by scientific experiment or it would have already been proven, and it would shut all us "materialists" up as it would be a pretty good way to prove that God existed due to the fact that for Him to answer your prayers he must exist
Put 1,000,000 people in a room and ask them all to pray for, let's say, a promotion at work the next day, the amount of people that actually got a promotion verses those that didn't would prove that praying does not work, and would be easily explained by chance.
If praying worked then all 1,000,000 people would get a promotion.
Same goes for the point I made about the ebola outbreak in Africa, God did not save a single person that declined to go to hospital and instead relied on prayer, to any logical person that is proof right there that prayer is a waste of time

You don't understand prayer. Go and read some Dawkins or something.
My mate just showed me this, made me laugh, and guess it shows God is like a drug with the effect it can have on some people, u could put any of these people in a jungle night at fantasia and they would fit right in

You're right, I dont understand prayer,
It either works and is therefore provable, or it doesn't work and is therefore a waste of time, there can be no middle ground

You know my late father in-law was in a big way in this Pilgrim's Progress. He used to go on about it to Mister Hot who totally gave it a deaf ear. Anyway, it's sad that my FIL died at 53 with aggressive Cancer. I don't know where his PP copy went to. Perhaps to Andy, his business partner; just like his business. Mr. Hot wasn't interested in either of them; neither his Pilgrim's Progress nor in his wealth churning business. Mother in-law did take her Madonic black book to our Egypt holiday for her sunshine read whereas I had The Schreber Case to my hand luggage. I was asking her today about her lodge activities. She was saying that a lot of sub-groups are disappearing due to the lack of participation. She said she'll still be paying her subs to the national one, even when she physically can't attend anymore. It's a few hundred quid a year, I think. That's what I call devotion.
Hodgy, if you understand what you understand, merely on the star dust level, then you are a materialist. If you start understanding what you understand on transcendental level, you can become a spiritualist.
Yes I see the meaning now
Always happy to learn, knowledge is power after all
How can I explain it? I will try, but it may need your input
If You pray for something, do you expect it to happen, or at the very least expect it to increase the chances of what you prayed for happening?
Some people pray after the disasters have struck. It happened after the tsunami in Thailand, after the earthquake in Haiti and on many occasions like that. Praying body may not know whether the dead people's soul will definitely rest in peace in some heaven or not, but prayer certainly puts their own soul in some rest as well in some peace. It's a form of meditation to calm your nerves down, if you look at it in a scientific way.

Reason: Too many Freudian slips tonight!

Yes, I can see that to be true, that doesn't mean the prayers are answered though.
JT said in an earlier post he was going to pray for me in response to me calling God evil, the reason for that is not to calm his nerves, the reason is that he presumably expects it to have an effect (work) otherwise what is the point?
The point I am trying to make is that surely there is an expectation that the prayer is going to be answered? I find it very hard to believe that praying has any effect, if it does have an effect on the chances of something occurring then surely it should be provable by way of a scientific experiment? I don't think it is provable and if it was would be, in my eyes one of the best ways to prove the existence of god

So, just read that post and you state, quote: "prayer works"
I'm sorry but that is not the case or you could prove it by having 100 people in a room all praying for the same thing to happen versus 100 non believers in another room not praying
if prayer worked than the actual occurrence of the thing being prayed for would happen more often in the room of prayer EVERY TIME, and not once would it happen more in the room of non prayer, I can guarantee you that would not be the case, I would stake my life on it.
If this were the case then someone would have carried out the above test to prove gods existence and end the debate once and for all, the reason they have not done this is obviously that it would prove prayer does not work and therefore in a logical follow on from that, God does not exist.

Like I said, you lack wisdom. Anyway, my guests are looking at me pointedly because I'm tapping away on my phone. Goodnight, Bulldog. Goodnight all!

And like I said, you lack logic, goodnight Jt, I'm off to watch the football highlights, avoided hearing the result, so in a huge dollop of irony I'm praying they actually won for once, although I doubt my prayers have been answered lol
