Not sure how a escort rs turbo was mentioned, was a fast car for it's day. Mine ran 106mph terminals at Santa pod on a blueprinted 1.6 cvh back in 2001

Well mine proved to be 3-4 seconds faster round the 5th gear track than the new 2015 Subaru, must be slow then (both in the wet btw )

Very interesting and goes against conventional wisdom that more power and 4wd equals faster, even more impressive that it was done in the wet.

Comes as no surprise to me, but I'm sure there are plenty on here that would say it's not possible.

309 GTI maybe didn't have the headline figures, much like the RCZr above, but you could certainly peddle one along pretty damm quickly down a country road, I think a standard UK turbo with crap brakes and all the understeering would struggle against one.

Then of course there's things like Renault 5 Turbo, oh and the 5 with the blown arches and engine in the back, they were sex on wheels back in the day, Uno turbo, 205 gti 1.9, would all give them a run for their money under the right conditions.

Looking at the prices of some of their other stock I'd say their prices are a tad on the optimistic side, and that's being polite.

Baffles me the classic market too

I wont have the Lamborghini, Ferrari , masserati ,R8 , Bentley

I'll take the grotty old Renault hatchback.

Fair enough it may be an investment but as for a car to drive? That's what buying a cars for isn't it? To drive it

Back on topic, Toyota MR2 in all it's guises, really looks as though it should fly, especially the MK2 a good mate had one and it couldn't stay with one of my XR2's although to be fair it was the fastest XR2 I'd had and I had 2 others to compare it to, that one was a bit of a weird one as it absolutely flew for some strange reason, the same night we tested it against another mates 309 gti (the one I used to drive) and a Ford Probe, it left all 3 of them up to almost double the speed limit, on a private airfield of course, which we were all quite surprised about, I expected to have my **** handed to me by all of them, even compared what speeds were indicated and they were all in line with what I saw on my clocks, closest to me was the 309 but he said it just didn't have anymore.

Have to stick up for the Lexus IS200, I had one for about 3yrs, not sure what bhp as I wasn't aware there was a difference.

First off I wouldn't say they look quick, but it's an engine you need to work as the vvti (or what ever it's called) comes in around 4k rpm, it's not a massive hit but it does make a difference when you keep it up there, also I've never had a car that rides so well and is stable at high speed, it would just sit at 140mph going across Germany and if it wasn't for how fast things passed you by you'd think you were doing half that speed, those things seriously munch miles, was in convoy a few times with bimmers and Audi's and they seemed to be twitching quite a bit above 120mph. Not the best handling down country roads but still fun and a reasonable turn of speed once moving. I don't remember ever being out run at motorway speeds on many trips across Europe, my only gripe with the car was how much fuel it drank, but nothing ever went wrong with it so we kept it until my lad came along then swapped it for a Mazda Bongo, with cash my way.
