Has defiantly put my mind at rest but will have to hunt again to try and find that hard pipe for the fpr to connect to as I can only assume it will be open and causing vacuum leak somewhere. Looks like I know what I'll be doing this weekend xx

Cheers for all the help guys. I'm 99% sure it's all sorted now. How much cap would I be chatting if I was to think it's now a lot more responsive. Maybe it's because I've been using the Mrs 1.2 fiesta while doing some work on the scooby but it seems to be a lot pokier than before organising the intake properly.

Glad to here your sorted did you put a restrictor in the bottom pipe from the 3 port or did u you leave it to atmosphere if not have you a boost gauge and what boost are you running.

I've used the pipe that was there previous but after thinking about it god knows if it has the restrictor pill in. Will check it in the week best I can.
The boost guage that was in there....again just screwed into the pillar and a shoddy job at that (snapped etc etc) so don't know if it's a true reading but about 10-11 psi. Could do with someone who knows what they're doing to listen as I don't know if I'm getting flutter or what (has done since I've got it).
Basically as the turbo is going hard to work and the revs increase and before gear change the bypass valve or turbo seems to make a fluttering noise. My guess is that the bypass spring is either weak and opening before throttle is closed due to the increased pressure????

Never had it on my My99 so can't help but wonder is it me or is it something that I'm unsure of as the previous owner must have had less of a clue than me.

What sort of intake have you is it an airbox or induction kit if its an induction kit that could be where your getting the flutter. Take a few pics of what you have now and I/we will see if anything's amiss you should know your way around it now so you'll know what to take pics of lol.

Definitely the original resonator box. Have an apexi intake on its way with resonator delete pipe. Just assumed the recirculating valve was sending air back prematurely

Blank the dump valve off to find out you should have a TD05 so won't do it any harm. Think you should be running a little more boost than that but your not far away. I would have a standard V1/2 dump valve somewhere I could send you. Is the boost on the gauge steady or jumping about. The wee restrictor you said was in the pipe to the gauge should be there as it stops the gauge spiking. The only thing is you will get a different type/sound of flutter then because the boost will back up in the turbo and try to stall the compressor.

I've not had the turbo off and have read lots the earlier classics have the td05 but got a feeling the clown I had it off put a Td04 on to sell the 05 for more. Will check asap. There is a restrictor in the guage pipe defo and it might be upto 11 or 12 I'll have to keep an eye again for sure.
How would you suggest blanking off bov?

Will give that a go today. Noticed on way to work it boosts at 11 but also noticed that the guage is sat on -1.5 ish at engine off.
The turbo boosts to 10/11 at around 4000rpm, the revs still rise and the car still accelerates to say 7000rpm the whole time the flutter (whatever you want to call it) is happening. The car accelerates but maybe not as quick as the initial boost on

I can check later after work. Was going to invest in a td05 if the one on it was indeed a Td04 but if he didn't swap them to sell I can try new actuator. How stiff would it need to be to move by hand as a rough guide of telling lol.

I will pull it all off and give it all a clean. Sounds like there is something open somewhere, just noticed air escaping as the engine is idling but on a pumping motion. Scooby newbie shouldn't have bought a cheap mother failure lol.

DISASTER!!!!

After pulling all the vacuum hoses and airbox off to check all the work abd if it was td05, I noticed the hard pipe the fpr was meant to be connected to with the help of the previous pics. Anyway pulled the Fpr off from the rail to connect the vacuum hose. All hoses are now back on but fuel pissing from the rail/fpr joint. Any ideas.

THINK there the same as the injector cap bolts steal one of those but make sure you tighten up uniformly or the O ring nips. It would be alright for a test. Was the fpr not piped up ? I so you would be running very lean on boost.

Dealer would be able to supply one, I've probably got spares, but, would be the weekend before I could root around to try and find them.

Just edited as I've found a match and the thread fits but think in the bitch black I've managed to nip the o'ring as you've said as it's still pissing on ignition (fuel pumping)

Yeh lots of swearing and tool throwing made for an early night and start afresh in morning.
And to update....is a Td05h top entry. Have ordered an apexi power intake and resonator delete so sold be arriving for weekend. Have yellow injectors from my99 2.0 turbo so probably an esl board for mapping next. Getting there, no bad for £500 MOT failure

All sorted with tea fpr thank ****
After watching several YouTube vids and research I'm almost positive it's wastegate flutter as was suggested earlier.however the wastegate feels very firm considering a healthy child could move it. Im 1st one rugby lad and thought it was stiff....

Which resonator box are you looking to delete. The one in the wing or the one in engine bay. Got the apexi from a cheap ebay but will know if it's genuine when it arrives otherwise he can have it back.
As for resonator delete, the post maf box is few and far between on the favoured auction site but from what I've read it's a simple swap with all associated conector ports and pipes on the pipe itself.

I believe the post my96 don't have the same intake system quite. The my96 I know has a resonator box aftwr the maff but before turbo, taking up a fair amount of room and from what I've read serves only to dampen the induction sounds.
The resonator you've describes is the one in the O/S wing is it not?
There was a thread somewhere I read about removing this but there is mixed opinions on removal. I'll leave the floor open but without this IMHO driving through puddles and rough country lanes where I live gives potential for splash to be sulked in and we all know that's not good.
Might be worth opening a thread to see the pros and cons, research has led me to believe for the weight gains there is no real benefit but I might be wrong.
