I was looking at 0-60 times of various Super Cars this morning and was surprised to see that Matt's WRX is only three one hundredths of a second slower to 60 than a 2006 Bugatti Veyron.

Yeah, a 104mph terminal isn't great for a 12 second pass.

Lad up the road got an 110mph terminal and he ran 15 seconds. Traction!!!!

My 60 foot that day beat Big Arf's old car's 60 foot, on his fastest run too, a 10.74!!!! I also beat and matched p1hardy's 60 foot times. Both those cars run over 700bhp. So you take that into account and the fact my car dies a death at over 60mph and you get the circa 3 second 0-60mph estimates.

Arfs old car is X444 mine is X57 - it was damp and cold so only the pros and 700bhp+ cars were running sub 2 second 0-60 foots. ...and my 300bhp WRX

I also have video footage of both runs inc times. TBH my car has better traction than a 700bhp STI, it's 220kg lighter than an STI, has less transmission losses and has better gearing for 0-60mph. My WRX is undeniably quick but 300lbft means my car dramatically slows once it hits that long 3rd gear and meets increasing air-pressure.

Big Fud now owns Hardy P1's 700bhp Impreza you are on about, Im pretty sure if you ask Fud nicely he could meet you at Santa Pod and smash every time you have on the day inc(0-60, reaction time, terminal and quarter mile)

I heard they based the new Chiron on a WRX. They literally just got a WRX and put a new shell on it.

And if I match a 700bhp+ STI's 0-60ft (again) or keep up with them over 100 metres you'll concede the WRX is a damn fast car?

As a now wrx owner, i have to say the spec c, and the various sti i have owned were all pants in comparison.

All joking aside, a well tuned car and driver can embarrass cars alot quicker than it.

Matt are the vids on YouTube?/

Watch "launch control 2001 wrx ppp" on YouTube

To be ridiculed but that was mine, mapped by andrew car, wrx about 260 bhp? Maybe a tiny bit more, youll hear me bog down as inever do standing starts and i make that about 5-5.5 seconds to 60. I reckon a good driver could of got that car mid 4's

Aye. I do try and back up my claims with vids, timing slips, stats, articles and comparisons.

I don't think Arfs old car has the 6 speed STI box but it does look like it`d benefit from slightly longer ratios.

How does owning a 700bhp car mean you have a faster reaction time?????

Matt look at the 2 vids you posted, look how much wheel spin Big Arfs car has off the line, yes its running big bhp thats the reason why its struggling to get grip on that track, Your car had very slight traction issues.

Not sure what the track is like up York, but most vids ive seen it doesnt look to good, have you been to Santa Pod???

Any car can be made reasonably quick to 100 though, it takes a lot more shetlands and torque to keep that momentum going beyond the ton mark.
Mine makes decent progress with a home brew map etc.

With reasonable mods a wrx can be made quick, fun on quiet roads but there is always bigger and better out there, even faster than an sti eh!

So because Big Arf owns a 700bhp car it 'makes' him a better driver?????

Also, read your reply about the vids -
Big Arf's car spins the wheels off the line, Matt doesn't. So Matt's car has better traction and forward motion. He has less power, but uses it fully. Big Arf has big power, but doesn't get full traction.

That is why a lower BHP car with good traction can get better 0-60 or 60ft times than big BHP cars with poor traction. Terminal speed and ET are a different thing though

??????

Think you reading into it too much, I was on about Big Fuds car not Big Arf, and I was saying that Matt should have a go against Fuds car which is also 700bhp, and the reason for the reaction time comment was saying that Fud is a better driver and not only will he beat Matts quarter mile time, 0-60, but also reaction time that I am that confident he would do.

It wasn't a comment I thought Id have to explain as it was more tongue in cheek Maybe I should have used the smilie emotions on the right hand side to explain a bit better
