I got my car at 24, was cheap on insurance 'cos id driven an 2litre MR2 (91, not the girls version) for that past 3 years. Wouldn't like to try first car Scooby youd be looking at £2-3k easily.

And that's not even taking into account the daily running/cost of the car.

My STI costs me a fortune to run .

Wouldn't have it any other way like.,...

Do it!

It will go one of two ways.

You'll either come out on top and learn a lot in the process.

Or you will fail and still learn a lot in the process.

As long as you can afford to lose the money you will spend, then there is nothing to lose but a lot to gain.

If all goes well then you will have a car that you knowingly spent time, effort and money putting right. Its a proud moment when you turn the key and go for your first drive after getting a car back from the dead.

Not being very mechanically minded isn't necessarily an issue, it might make things take a little longer, but you will get there, there are so many resources and technical information, especially on forums such as these and dont forget YouTube!

The only thing that might be an issue is tools. But in general, a good socket set and good spanners is a must. There might be some other tools you will need down the line. Really depends what you need to get done.

If it feels right, then go for it mate

Hamzi good for u mate I'm self learnt started on xr3i's in the 90s to my latest sti hatch done all sorts engine swaps box swaps even a couple of re shells on classics uk to import everything out of one swapped to the other . It's nuts and bolts if you got patients plenty of time and willing to learn and make mistakes good for you . There's plenty of info out there to help now days with the help of the net . Now taking a gear box to pieces and rebuilding that that's something I pay for lol give me a engine over a box any day ... oh and don't forget wd40 before you get stuck in spray everything well before you start this is a godsend

i fail to see how im the "P.R.I.C.K", i actually answer peoples question, give my opinions in the format of an opinion and not fact.

I try to motivate people instead of discourage them.

Just showing how most of this thread is wrong, I DID get it working and I DID get insurance

where this a will there is a way, if there isn't a way, your will is lacking.
