Usual suspects out in force I see, what a surprise they're all beating the same old drum, strange how you all think it's face book that's killed this place, look in the mirror if you want to see the kn obs that have done for SNET.
OP, I have done 38 mpg on a 1300 mile trip several times now most recently twice, once in July and the same on the return trip at the end of August, 70/80mph all the way keeping half an eye on the boost gauge, staying under 3k rpm.
I don't do this so much for the mpg but to avoid 500 euro speeding fines, the mpg is just a bonus.
Daily driver = WRX, even better if it has PPP, PCA Dynamics springs, AP's and a few bits and bobs, it will cane a standard STI in every situation, only the resident muppets refuse to admit this.
Weekender or modder STI.
Real drivers car choice, STI Type R or RA.

Seems like pretty good value for money to me, even more so because I can stick a fridge in the back, get 38mpg on a run and still give cars 10 times the value a run for their money.
Smart money = WRX deluded chav w$nkers with inferiority complexes buy a newage sti and try and convince the wrx owners and those not in the know they bought an inferior car, when all the stats suggest otherwise.
Power to weight ratio, lighter is always better, unless you own a newage STI of course.

I don't know why you STI boys get such a boner at the suggestion a lighter car with similar power, smaller, faster spooling turbo and longer gear ratio's will at the very least stay with you, maybe it's because it p!sses on you that you get so upset and go for more power.
Big numbers mean nothing in the real world, it's about the whole package, and you STI boys are lacking in the package department.

FYI, I own a V3 STI Type R, so there's no envy here boy.
Just remind me what Subaru you have at the moment, I have two.
All you STI boys try and tell us Newage WRX owners that we got it wrong, did it ever cross your tiny little minds that we actually did some research and got it right.

Well considering your car is lighter than a standard UK STI it may just pass under the wire, but considering my lowly WRX PPP stayed with a 400+bhp JDM STI up to about 120mph (although not sure how hard he was pushing) but he did go for it a little bit not saying I could of passed him, but he wasn't going anywhere, safe distance included.

Neither **** Matt or Bitchmyster have owned a Newage STI but have spent the last couple of years telling anyone who will listen how it plays second fiddle to the mighty WRX with info based on a few numbers they have found on the internet.
Even when people, who have owned both models have told them in a polite way that they are talking $hit they still won't listen....

I don't do fancy or shouty, I also need practicality, especially considering I drive half way across Europe on a regular basis with all manner of crap in the car and when I get here I go to the wood yard or builders merchants and load up with cement or 5m lengths of wood on the roof, an STI would be out of it's depth as well as being slower and less economical.
Let's face it Imprezas are a budget motor, debating which is better is akin to debating which ***** is better a 30 quid or a 50 quid, as long as you squirt your load, who cares.

Oh I see what you did there, you're so smart, I bet you spent quite some time pulling your plonker with your tongue up tubbys ring to come up with that one.
FYI, there are some VERY good reasons I have never owned a Newage STI, main one being, I actually drove them back to back BEFORE I decided which one to buy.
My info and choice is based on some very basic principles, it's pointless me trying to explain them to you as you obviously don't poses the intelligence or ability to think beyond your retarded peer group, probably for fear of being singled out as someone who is capable of independent fact based thoughts, but hey don't worry, I wouldn't expect anything else of you.

it should be 'what you are willing to pay'
I'd rather pay an extra £8k a year on my mortgage (like I have done for years) and have plenty of cash in the bank. why should I buy a more expensive car just because sti owners say I'm envious?
I noticed the fake track owners don't brag that they have a fake track

Well it's not going at the moment, first on the list is a 2.0L forged build with the parts I already have, (wisco pistons, eagle rods, arp head bolts etc, etc) but seeing as my WRX keeps on going I don't see the point in fixing it when it's not broken.
The 2.1L will be going into my Type R and as I have said before, I'm in no rush as I have other financial commitments like 3 rental apartments and a swimming pool that take priority over my toys.
HTH.

'No rush'
Dickmyster is getting on a bit and will no doubt be dead of age before anything materialises...have we seen a photo of his bargain box of bits?
Translations for our foriegn nationals statements
'swimming pool' = bath tub
'3 rental apartments = crack dens in Zagreb
but he dosent do 'loud and shouty'.., what was that about your swimming pool Dicky?

As for my box of bit's, it's old news, one of the pistons needs re- coating but apart from that it's all good, if you could summon the brain capacity to do a search in the projects section then you'd be able to see all my parts and the fact that I have re built a Subaru engine already, it's really not difficult, in fact it's one of the easiest cars I have ever worked on, and as for rebuilding Subaru engines, well that's easy too, the term "money for old rope springs to mind, but hey you're the sort that believes all the hype, so yeah it's really really hard and the newage sti is the dogs twitch.
As regards the swimming pool, standard issue out here mate, but yet again I'd expect someone like you to think it was something special, considering your love of Newage STI's.
MUG!

The UK is only a very small part of the Subaru market hence the lack of investment. The US and Asian markets are the main areas but Subaru did not invest in diesel tech as much as the other car makers. Diesel sales account for less than 3% of the JDM market and is likely to decline, Nissan use French diesels.
If you believe all modern performance cars are fuel efficient then you have swallowed the advertisers spin or don't read the reviews properly. Haldex and many of the other 4x4 systems are torque vectoring or electronically controlled, so not true AWD like Subaru hence the fuel efficiency.
Until the DI engines are introduced then either buy another car or suck up the low MPG.

And keeping with the American theme I thought I'd call it gasoline as you lot seem intent on calling your estates station waggons
