Lovely. 3 and a half years left on the STI for me, so should be timed very well for getting into a 3yr old FRS. I grew up lusting after an Escort Cosworth but in reality they're nowhere near as good or capable a car as what I've got. Finally we might just be getting a proper successor.

Official price, power and performance figures.

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-b...urt-2015/32922

Shaping up quite nicely Might finally be a true replacement for the Impreza.

I do love it when people ,as in that article, talk about marginal power/performance figures between different cars. You will hardly ever get to use that last 10-20hp , 5-10mph or 0.5sec 0-60 in the real world.

You could put any number of people in any number of those premium hot hatches & by far the biggest difference that would make a mockery of any statistics would be driver ability.

I am unsure about it all as it is still a focus at the end of day. Mind the same logic could be applied to an Escort RS of yesteryear.

One thing is for sure it cant be any more pricey on the ownership cost sidethan a scooby

I bet Ford can't get them ready quick enough at that price point. Just hope the hyper hatch bubble is still going strong when they finally hit the roads. The competition will no doubt be upping their performance for a facelift model at the same time, all good news for us petrol heads regardless of which marque we like.

A white 2015 Type R drove past me a few days ago and if you're into looks as much as performance it takes some beating. That said It looked quite long though.

The new ford rs is a lovely motor but that's a lot of cash for a focus, I was considering a used rs for around 20k. I can't believe how well they hold their value and I bet the new rs will hold its value the same,so for that point of view it's a good choice.
I took out the new civic type r the other day, great looking car and lovely interior. I didn't like the torque steer much as I love the traction of my Impreza and mine still felt quicker, but it's not all about the performance.
I would probably consider an Audi rs3 or golf r over the focus. I drove the golf r aswell which was lovely and sounds the nuts! It's all down to personal choice.

I can't believe my Ford dealer. Put my name down asking about RS got a message about new car discount deal nothing about the RS.

Perhaps my dealers doesn't want to sell them

one of my mates had a similar situation recently , he 100% wants one but the dealer was totally dismissive borderline arrogant about the new focus rs
dont think they will have to work hard to sell them tbh and with all the hype and reviews i can' t see any discounts or deals being offered for a good while
it will be interesting to see what supply / demand is like initially

My son has had his order in for a few weeks and is on the first batch list. Even if it came out a bit earlier most would wait for the 16 plate on 1st march.
I've ordered one and have missed the cut off for first batch so I'm probably looking to around June?

What spec you going for?? Got to have the Recaro CS seats!!

If I went to a dealer to buy one today, would they take a deposit for one?? And possibly what sort of wait would you expect??

Late August id imagine

although I reckon a few peeps will try to profit and will try to sell one with a £1000 deposit for £2000 to keen buyers

Think there will be a big mark up on these when the first batch come out!! I expect some non-Ford dealers will be asking £5k over market value when they pop up for sale, which then puts it in A45 AMG and good spec Audi S3 territory!!!

What spec you going for Tony??

I didn't get my name down in time for first batch, so probably won't bother now.
I'll wait to drive one first.
