work ay home Graham so, kinda as and when been at home last 18 months, however that could change.

prob i have is work will not allow me to have anything daft, has to have 4 seats (ok fiat 500 is tight ) and must be newer than 3 years.

I could buy a toy and a sensible car like a focus but I'm just trying to nail both at once.

Fords was ok but its a 17 year olds car like VXR.
Fiats fast as hell only 1000KG and 180 bhp, residuals are good which is a bonus and its kinda quirky...

I just gotta ring MB now and hope they don't back out of taking my car back.

List price is 23k LOL, after playing dealers off each other I've had 3 k knocked off, yep a lot I know 19k for a fix it again tony.

But fiesta was more a month and less full price. As residuals on Abarth are quite strong
I've kinda sacked off the vxr, sat in the new one today, seems basic and pretty poor.
Do not break the £100/HP threshold or a disaster beyond imagination will occur

If Merc take the car back why start more finance to save money? Sorry if sound like Matt.

I see now..... makes a lot more sense, does make it a lot more difficult........ GTR only kidding, back seats are useless!!

Ford Mustand V8? RHD finally, but I think the wait list is silly.

All valid John, but ive found if the car is around 19 to 23K its around 290 to 310 a month with 200 deposit. anything more its going outside of my Target zone.

I know that whatever i get i,ll get bored in 12 months,
The new Civic is nice but in all honesty i think they have made it too ricer/chav looking, shame really.

MB have some 2nd hand C63s in he may offer me one of them and if he can meet my target 300 a month then maybe, but cost of ownership servicing etc is quite a lot.

The small cars, are cheap, that fiats Insurance is 200 quid a year 40MPG and even though they look like a shoe box. the space in the back is nomore or no less that the corsa or fiesta when i tested them...

i could go into reliability but even thought Fiat have a stigma, everywhere i read they get kinda a good review... but all cars have faults..we all know that.

Just been spending it up with wife, trying not to add much

Going white, red roof, black alloys. Internally not doing much but I may cave in and add the visual stereo , was gonna have the HUD but looks crap and 500 quid, prefer Hramon Kardon speakers

Unless you need the cash mate, I think you're as mad as a box of frogs doing this.

Between the two, the JCW spurts all over the Fiat. Standard!

Yeah I'd prefer to Have the 250 a month the mini gives me, than have the 45 stood outside. Just haven't used it shaun, give it its dues it's fun when I do, but at a premium for me.

Yeah mini it is then, I can then save up for something nicer next year, C63S coupe maybe let's see. I can already see wife palming off the zafira to me and she takes the mini.

Bit pissed that the A45 was a **** to sell, no MB dealers want them unless your trading in against another MB, best I got was 30600 not bad 14k loss in 14 months. Also facelift October so it will prob fall more

Even my Subaru didn't have that, I lost 12 k in 30 months....but the price we pay for high end cars. Privately maybe 33k but can't be arsed...

You'll miss the A45 i'd say.
I had the pleasure of actually driving one on Tuesday at MB world, real good fun car, especially when in manual mode.

Thats crap!! I was very lucky with the GTR, bought at the right time and Nissan helped with up'ing the prices, bought new and lost about 15k over 4 years, excluding mods

The Aston I looked at was terrible!!!! 20-30k every 6-9 months.... .WTF!!!!!!

The first Subaru T2000 I bought in 1999 cost me a whopping £800 quid when I traded it against another new one in 2000

As people have mentioned the Golf R, have you looked at the Scirocco R?

There's some amazing lease deals available at the moment on them - they seemed to do the same thing when the Golf R came out, and now they've gone up about 50%.

Yes sub i have. I don't like the scirocco its what i call a marmite car some love em some hate em, i put it int same bracket as the fiat Mulipla... hehe weird design..

I did try for a Golf GTI but VW are pretty crap and discounts, i can get the R on lease but when i add the upfront onto the monthly it isn't cheap 350 a month plus...

They may still ring me, but they have 45mins before i go order the JCW...

Why don't you just buy an older car outright? Sounds to me like you've lost enthusiasm, sod just grasping at straws for another new car! Just spend a few k on 'something that just sits outside'

OP

Does seem to me like you're bored, I'm sure that any other new car will end the same way. If you can obviously afford the AMG but resent paying it because its's a waste, you'll surely resent paying monthly for anything? Even £250 a month is a lot for something you're not using that.

Have you thought about a loan with similar monthly payments and buying something outright?

The thought of buying something like a mini brand new makes me feel quite sick. Those types of cars to me are 'run of the mill, everyone and their dog has one' type of cars. Nothing wrong with them but they are just mundane shopping trolleys. The sort of car that really wouldn't matter buying an older one for peanuts as it's 'just a car'

hehe. Ok as i said above i cannot get anything thats older than 3 years, work pay for it... So i did weigh up some second hand type thing, but once id got finance etc i was still around the same cost as the Mini and Fiat. Minis APR was very very low 2% or something.

As Bio says i,ll get bored even if i had a lambo, but the Mini kind of ticks a box for the wife too, so i keep her happy, its pretty fast so I'm ok.

Anyway jobs done now cars locked in ordered final model was

White JCW 2.0L 231 BHP Manual
Red roof
JCW bonnet stripes
Harmon Kardon stereo
Lights and wipers pack
Heated seats
Armrest
Fancy stereo or visual boost they call it.
keyless entry
connected drive

every car I've ever had wife never been bothered this 1 she's excited :/ i,ll be excited once i order my C63S coupe
Lots of ways to look at this but i wanted new and my budget was a max 300 a month for the car and 350 with extras and servicing.
I managed to get all extras and servicing for 339 with 200 quid down. car was 26k on paper but after discounts and things it came down a load.
james ive had my fair share of nice cars and the A45 turns a lot of heads, the Mini kinda looks ok and is ok, if i had not gone mini id have got a standard civic sport and that would have miffed me right off.
Loan wise correct i did look, but i can't VT a loan i can a car and the % rate was less than a loan from any bank..

Ted

I hope I am wrong but I think you might look back and regret this move. It's a big step backwards and whilst the Mini is half descent, it won't compete on lots of levels with what you are waving away.

Best of luck anyways.

Just do what you feel is right for you - if you've made a mistake then so be it. You can always change the car again - it's only money.

Life's too short to dither around. I've known plenty of people who have lived for tomorrow, next month, next year, always doing the 'sensible' thing - why not enjoy today?

Yeah I,ll miss it but facelift version comes out October so residual may drop more. I've had my fun it was good, but I don't use them enough I don't do track days etc.

I've spent a lot on cars over the years time to stop and move house now booooo...

If I go performance again it will be a Porsche.

Nothing wrong with the mini, prefer the old ones but my missus is tempted by one of the JCW ones now as well. She has had a Cooper S before and loved it!

Whens yours due to arrive?

6 weeks Graham from last Friday, i didn't know they were twin turbo either, should be fun toque gets good from 1250 Revs, its claim to fame is it can accelerate from 50 t0 70 faster than a Carrera s...

I'm slowly learning that remaps are coming out for it, 291BHP in 1200KG car should be great fun

added a few things and it was still over 250 quid a month cheaper than the 45.
