Woi!! 13k!
I have a quote in my email from a big tuner for around 6k plus vat for a 600hp 2.35.
Tbh that's just block, so I'd expect a couple of k for heads so I'd say just under 9k all in with good parts.
That arrow crank is posh but that's some price lol, what power you building for and is the crank needed at your level? Or are you going high compression and like the redlining engine hence Gucci crank?
Tbh for a proper build I only think it's slightly over by about 4K lol. But I suppose everyone charges different for what ever reasons.
Edit-I included my heads already, but add another 1.5k for bare ones. So not that much over for a complete build tbf

If done at a garage then I would expect extra for Labour & Profit margin.
You could possibly get away with stock AVCS heads and some "Funny Fuel"
See you near 600 on a 2.35 & cheaper still.
£40k would be a fair price to put on a complete build
But a £40k Engine id want NASA spec lolol Ti & Inconel
No harm in going overboard with a project tho
You could go crazy wih Syvecs/Motec and spend close to that on race electrics, dashboards etc.

2.35 Rebuild from scratch is far from cheap...I know I've done it,labour cost can be anywhere from £5000 + alone then parts on top block work, head work, valves etc, uprated cams if your going that way, uprated clutch, turbo, uprated ecu, uprated brakes, miscellaneous parts, believe me when I say,out of all the rebuilds the 2.35 cost serious money to do it right.SJ.

iv had more than enough forged engines built to know what I'm willing to pay and wouldn't be anywhere near the prices quoted ,, can get a full blown WRC spec gas ringed engine including WRC cams and all machine work for the heads and block for around half that price and spec'ed to around 800bhp , I know as iv already got some of it built lol

the OP would have gone through the planned build with Paul, in some detail, and would be fully aware of exactly what and why needed to be done to achieve his objectives.
The man knows exactly what he's doing so no point in trying to second guess the cost. The build would cost what it cost for the spec and no more.

There is a big difference in building a 600hp capable engine and one that is capable of 900+. Like it has been said I have spoken to Paul excessively throughout and believe me the price for what he is building is far from dear. Yes he could have done it cheaper using far less specked parts but that is not what I wanted. Whoever thinks they could build any half decent 2.35 from scratch for circa 7k is living in cuckoo land.

Projects can creep massively when you want to do it right.
I, slowly doing mine as I want it done right so have to spend that extra and be patient, my heads are at £2k just for valvtrain alone, minus heads and labour to refresh.

No it isn’t fitted and mapped. It is using all the best parts available n for a fully timed up long engine. Here are a few pics of the heads that Paul sent me a couple of days ago to show the quality. Brand new big port heads where used due to the fact he couldn’t find any good used ones that where up to the job. Vernier pulleys will be also used.

Why would you need gas flowed ported heads on new big ports?

Busta i purchased brand spanking new big port heads for my build as I could not find a decent second hand set and still to make the most out of my Cosworth cams and valve set I got head work done, but everyone does things the way they want too,i was looking to achieve over 600 bhp on just pump gas and running under 2 bar "I'm running around 1.9 bar" and I achieved my goals comfortably with room to spare if I want more, but once you even get to 550bhp+you don't really need much more to put a big grin on your face.SJ.

I bet you payed the £1200 plus for your cams though? It helps if you know their supplier and don't have the cosworth stamp to bring pice down
Edit- I suppose it helps further to further port on a 2.35 though?
I'm deffo set on a 2.1 but deciding on arrow crank for the reliable redline abuse?
Omega extreme pistons, arrow rods, just unsure of crank.

Believe what you like but when your building a WRC spec car you need a engine to suit or am I not building that either lol

Said earlier in the thread I’m not getting into a debate about my own build ,,I was just surprised at the cost compared to what I’d be willing to pay
