What a load of total b0110cks.

All the people who think P1's are more prone to rust than type R's

Idiots, P1 has generally spent more time on ****ty uk roads. I dare you not to under seal a jap import and treat it the same. I know which will last longer.

At the end of the day each car has its merits, and were both intended for different uses and markets.

I guess you could argue that a P1 is a more (UK) road focused type R.

Then you could also argue that a type R is a more (JAP) road focused 22B

I really don't get why the broader scooby community hates on the P1 so much. ( I don't care too much either )

Which makes a type R a watered down wanna be 22B

Or failing that a riced up Impreza.

And to all the fcuktards that think the P1 is a pile of poo, and deluded that type R's are miles better in every aspect. I imagine that Subaru UK and prodrive feel pretty stupid, all those hours wasted, all that money spent on research, they should of just asked you lot.

The 22b is based on the Type R

Dude 95% of people in the UK can't drive for toffee, so Prodrive made the P1 easy to drive for numpties that need a car that when you run out of skill doesn't lift off oversteer, has abs and soggy suspension so as not to unsettle the car too much.

It's the reason so many Type R's get written off and the drivers find themselves backwards in a field, they're a class above the rest of the Subaru range and designed for people that know how to drive, which is why they never officially came to the UK.

Soooo you could argue that Subaru took the type R and made it better resulting in the 22B?

And they also chose to turn it into a P1.......

Obviously according to the "gods" they got the P1 wrong and should all be shot.

I wouldn't say the 22B is based on a type R, but they are closely related.

Just like all subarus being related to the Casablanca!!!! 😂😂😂

The reason the P1 exists is because so many type R's were being imported.

If your going to spend a shed load of money on a brand new car don't you want it to have all the luxuries and mod con's like ABS (which is crap on all classics) electric Windows, air con, wouldn't you want it to have a suspension set up especially for U.K. roads especially set up by one of the best companies around.

That is why everyone doesn't drive a caterham on a daily basis.

Hehe this is a good thread

The type r looks nice but.............

The P1

best Impreza ever built
best looking Impreza
best colour Impreza
the rear spoiler has you coming just looking at it
the front end is classy like Gisele bundchen

The Type r
looks like Jordan, all T1Ts and a mole on top

open your minds, look at the 2 cars, you'd have to be stupid or blind to think the r was the better looking Impreza

P1 every day

Never owned a P1 but i do own a v3 type r which has a few upgrades but still running standard engine mods apart from a spec c short block and its a fecking quick car for being standard power i cant understand why people try to sell a P1 for stupid money when theres nothing special about them apart from a number .

That's the exact answer expected from a P1 fan, clueless.

Type R's are good cars, I nearly bought one, but got a cracking deal on a P1.

There are some P1's about that are silly money, but one day they will be worth it, limited edition attracts buyers, doesn't matter if it's shoes, games consoles or cars, and the fact that it was possibly one of the highest spec'd Impreza's available reflects the cars value 15 years later.

Got to agree on that one, as it was the only impreza to come with briquettes in the fuel tank

It is a very nice spoiler, #becausecarbon

A P1 is a type R with all the good bits taken off....... Is also a retarded comment, but nevertheless this is the real world and people will say what they like.

As said earlier in the thread, Subaru wouldn't allow prodrive to remap the cars ( I'm unsure if this is true )
But as with the type r, you'd be a fool to even attempt high boost driving on standard fuel.

My old civic type R would have a strop if I were to use low octane fuel and that didn't even have a turbo to mess with the fuel ratios.
