Hi guys ain't been feeling too good recently so progress on the car has been slow, ain't had the energy to work with it but here is a small update:

I wasn't keen on using the old oil feed line for the turbo so I ordered a fitting kit, consists of braided oil line, new water pipes all banjos/washers etc & it was supplied by Aet Turbos

The options I had for a clutch kit were Exedy twin plate or an ACT which I preferred from the start so I ended up going for an ACT Extreme clutch kit, simply because I have driven a few cars with twin plate clutches & I just don't like the feel on them.

The Act Extreme is rated to 700+ ft/lb torque so is more then enough for what I intend to use it for and also future proofs me if I wanted to push it a bit at a later stage.

These units have very good reviews and are big in the states, also it says the pedal feel is not too bad on them & the clutches ain't noisy, so I will be putting it to the test to see how good it really is.

I was browsing the net and came across some Morette head lamps, and after having crystal light packs on previous Impreza's I thought I will buy them & take a different route with this cars lights.

So I purchased them and they swiftly arrived in good condition, no cracks or broken plastics so I was well pleased about that.

However there was a few slight marks on the paintwork nothing dramatic but were visible on close inspection.

I considered getting them sprayed in metallic black or even colour coding them to the car, but I ended up having them hydro dipped in carbon & then sprayed with a light coat of tint spray to give that genuine carbon fibre look.

The work was done by Paul @ H2O Transfers, very nice guy and excellent service.

I had a customised grill badge made with carbon fibre background.
I also ordered a set of crystal smoked side lights & smoked side repeaters to go with the morettes.

To finish it off was:

Led sidelight bulbs
Silvertec bulbs to replace all indicator bulbs

To get a HID kit at some point also
May remove inner lamps and fit air ducts

I have fitted a set of genuine carbon fibre side mirrors also.

Update:

The gearbox crossmember bushes where showing usual signs of wear on them so I ordered a set of Whiteline black synthetic bushes, supplied by Scooby world.

I also took this opportunity to give the cross member a rub down and a fresh coat of paint using satin black.

Popped into my local motor factors and picked up these LED toggle switches, I know I will be needing one for when I have anti lag mapped in but I got two spares in case there is a need for them later on.

Ordered a Beatrush pitch stop from the group buy on here after coming to the understanding that this item is going to be discontinued in Japan I made sure I got my hands on one.

The Beatrush mount is a excellent quality item & I highly recommend it if you haven't alredy got one, loads better over standard, these were supplied by Raw Automotive.

I was browsing Scoobyworld website & ordered my self a CDF racing billet timing belt guide, simple yet a worthwhile mod.

I had a think about mapping side of things and what sensors etc may be needed so I purchased the following:

Scooby Worx 3 port boost control solenoid, these are meant to be the next best thing since Prodrive discontinued there ones.

Zen Performance 4 bar map sensor, may not be required but good for future proofing.

JT Innovations Cal switch for various map settings.

Car is now away at BRW performance were it will be put together, could take a few weeks as those of you who know Tim will know he is building his RA for TOTB, doing engine work on Bustas Type R & also other customer cars that were booked in before me, So I have told Tim and the boys at BRW there is no rush and for them to take there time with it, so it's a waiting game for me know but will update with any pics etc what get sent my way.

No longer have to hide goodies around the house

I haven't had a chance to come on here much to update so will be updating more during the week but here is a small update:

When I got the car it was fitted with a Revolution performance 4.5" slash cut back box, looked OE and was too quite for my liking.

So I got myself this HKS Hi power back box to fit, so this is how my set up will be:

RCM 3" rotated down pipe
Revolution 3" mid pipe
HKS 3" back box with 4.5" tip

The Revolution back box is ideal for those doing track days etc as it will definitely help with noise levels, I will have this available for sale if any good to any one.

Update:

Going over the car checking everything is as it should be,Tim wasn't happy with the heat wrap what was on the car as it was falling to bits, So I ordered the DEI Titanium stuff as have heard only good stuff about it, so its getting all re done atm.

Seeing as exhaust manifold was going to be removed I replaced all the gaskets, got the steel multilayer manifold to cyclinder gaskets from ICP, and sourced the manifold to up pipe gasket from RCM along with a T3 gasket.

Got the downpipe back from fabricators having being converted from a 4 bolt flange to a V band fitment.

The 6 speed had a stock gear box mount fitted & I was advised it will be a good time to fit an uprated one, So I ordered a group N item & also bought a new speed sensor for the gearbox from ICP.

Also the car was fitted with a 2 port catch can, what had T pieces in pipe work etc and didn't look tidy, So a custom 3 port catch can was made by Ellis Fabrications and fitted with silicone hoses supplied by ASH Hoses.

Highly recommended, the guy who makes them can be found on FB name Richard Ellis really nice guy and always willing to help also does swirl pots etc.

Catch can will be polished to a near mirror finish effect.

Also got some NGK iridium IX 7 plugs fitted & fuel filter, as I didn't get a chance to do them when I done the oil & filter change.

I ordered an Uprated Dayco Teflon timing belt & had this fitted for peace of mind as wasn't sure when it was last done, these Teflon belts meant to be the best on the market and come with 3yr warranty so that's a bonus.

Also a genuine Subaru water pump was fitted.

Tim noticed a slight oil leak when doing the timing belt,we thought it was a crank seal but on further investigation it actually looked like the rear seal on oil pump was deteriorating.

So taking no chances here I ordered a Uprated 11mm oil pump with modified relief valve, this was supplied by AdvancedAutomotives and promptly fitted.

where did you get the ACT clutch from mate? I've had their organic clutches in a few of my nissan 200sx's over the years and I can recommend them. The pedal feel is close to oem and they take abuse all day with a good life span.

Hi mate I was having problems finding the Xtreme clutch as at first the only ones I could find were in America, so I spoke to Spool Motorsport Developments up in Scotland and they sourced it for me, I think there is a supplier up there.

A few of my mates also run these units at higher power levels then what I intend to run and iv not heard of any issues so generally they seem a good buy

Update:

We also replaced the cam seals seeing as it was all stripped down anyway, so be good for future proofing as everything else got changed.

Now the new Dayco cambelt fitted and all timed up.

Gates alternator belt on with the lightweight pulleys.

A little tweak Tim fancied doing to the timing belt cover, So now you can see the CDF timing guide just a little extra touch

Now its starting to take shape...

Update:

When removing the exhaust manifold for wrapping, Tim noticed the oil cooler lines had some wear on them and wasn't looking the best of fit as were pretty stretched in certain places, also were very close to exhaust manifold so not ideal at all.

I was going to order another set from Mocal but then having a think about it they would have been the same length and we didn't wish to relocate the oil cooler else where as its fitted perfectly behind the grill & is a ideal spot for cooling.

So we called Pirtek who came out to the car and fabricated the braided lines to how we wanted them and now fit much better with slack in the lines were needed accordingly.

Old lines being removed you can see the wear on them from were they have been stretched.

New lines now fitted wrapped in Hi temp thermo wrap and neatly run down the chassis leg.

Enough clearance from the manifold now around 2" or so, having the manifold & lines in heat wrap should also help.

Manifold now re fitted and looking smart

Update:

So trial fitting the turbo and Tim noticed that the standard fuel rails were to close to the turbo so would have literally no room to get a air filter on.

Also various other things would need relocating to get clearance.

So Uprated Hi flow rails were ordered with braided lines and various AN6 fittings.

Also power steering set up looked to be causing obstruction, So the way around this was to fit a Newage pas set up with remote bottle.

Seeing as inlet manifold was going to be removed to fit rails,I ordered X4 new gaskets as the car has a spacer kit and needed one on top & bottom, also new throttle body & icv gaskets etc.

Since the inlet was off I told Tim to cut off all the unnecessary lugs/mounting points as these won't be needed due to going newage coil pack conversion, so no need to re-fit centre coil etc.

Also had the inlet powder coated in wrinkle red.

I had sourced some Newage coil packs & got a custom loom what JTI Innovations do for the My 97- 98 Imprezas, it's plug & play but needs a slight mod doing to the amplifier but comes with full instructions so good bit of kit.

We also got Ellis Fabrications to make us a new header tank.

Next step was to fit inlet manifold back to car & have the intercooler pipes fabricated as going for a rotated inlet now.

PICTURES TO FOLLOW BELOW AS SCOOBNET TIMES OUT BY THE TIME YOU COPY LINKS OFF PHOTOBUCKET...
