I am happy to report that the fastest 5 speed Impreza in the land has agreed to test these plates. I have agreed to supply them free of charge. Details to follow.

Four sets available . I was holding some for guys that said the wanted them but no word back. I realise it is mid month and funds are limited so a deposit will hold them until month end if it helps.

What sort of spec is this 5 speed impreza running?

I read quite a bit about these since Moore Performance started posting on them on NASIOC etc. I understand in theory how they are supposed to strengthen, but still fail to see how they will prevent gear stripping outright. Obviously some of the success stories I have read are very enticing, but at the same time read a few things from some well known gearbox experts who suggested this was not a major fix. The debate continues!

I myself run north of 400 on a V4 STI Type R, and am in the understanding that my box is one of the stronger ones as standard. I've had my car on this power for a while, been on track quite a bit, etc etc. But I never launch it- hence the argument of much of this comes down to how you use it. I'd be willing to test it but still would like to see longer term results before purchasing. Great to see you making this in the UK though, props for making the effort!! : ) .

The Impreza is currently 749 bhp I believe as the wick was just turned up with a new turbo. Gearbox let go 3rd gear at the recent JGM event. If all is well Mikee has agreed in principle to test them. I have sent a set to him and in turn he is bringing them to his gearbox guy. I think it is worth the gamble to me to have them tested to the extreme. The weight saving over a 6 speed is substantial. I believe the 6 speed's strength is due to the design of it's casing around the gear cluster. Only time will tell.

Just 1 set left from this run. Demand is fairly steady so may well make some more towards the end of the month. Any sets with deposit paid are set aside. Thanks

Equivalent to lets say 5 litres of fuel in the tank! How many of us would worry on that in our everyday vehicle? I appreciate it is a concern on a drag vehicle at the top of its game but compared to the extra weight of a 6 speed it's acceptable.

What's the deal with copying someone else's product like this then? Not exactly cricket surely?

Only if the design is patented, which I doubt it is. I've seen a few places selling them now.

I guess you could buy the original over priced and reportedly lower quality ones if you feel strongly about it? :-)

USA don't play cricket. While I admire your morals please feel free to buy a poorly made product at an inflated price. While I openly admit to copying the USA product I don't charge the premium. I take the time and effort to produce a high quality properly welded product at a fraction of the price of importing. Each single set I test fit before painting. For me it is not all about profit.
Lets loosely compare these to Rota's. A product many are happy to buy despite being a very poor Chinese replica of the original.
If it is better quality then is it really a copy?
As previously stated, if you would like the original blast gearbox plates then you can have mine. I have removed them from my car.
