coilover choice
Sorry for jumping in on this thread but after reading through it all no one has mentioned BC's ? The only reason I mention this is because I have a blob 55 plate STI with 22mm white line anti roll bars front and rear , ALK and standard STI shocks with eiback lowering springs and the ride is so uncomfortable , bouncy and back breaking. I have been advised to fit BC's fast road coil overs all round and that will make it a more comfortable ride bearing in mind it's not an everyday car and never used on the track. What's your thoughts ?
Its amazing the amount of people are on sites saying they are gonna buy coilovers and in a few months they are on again saying they are knocking or are seized. Pure ****, only suited to a smooth track and even then only the expensive ones are worth getting, ie ohlins.

What would you advise ? Obversely want to keep the handling but want the ride comfort of a WRX and before anyone says " we'll buy a WRX" already have one as my daily
KYB struts from camskil and a set of the PCA Dynamics/ Prodrive springs in the group buys section.
I have them on my Blob Wagon, lowers the car slightly improves handling but keep the comfort. Proper bit of magic.

Why are BC's s***e ? What was your experiences with them ? Was they used for track or road ? Sorry for all the questions but need to understand peoples perceptions as I have been out in a car with them fitted on the road and they feel nice and comfortable but is there a bigger picture I'm not looking at ?
I heard the Miester r are quite compliant on uk roads at £650-£700.
Never tried myself so don't know how much of it is true, but they are regarded better than bc's (reworked bc's)

At the end of the day ANY coilover is going to be a lot harsher than OEM shocks/springs on the $hite roads we have...They are designed to be used on smooth flat roads/tracks...Then you fit 18`s and that makes it harsher, then ARB`s and harsher again...You can easily take the enjoyment out of a well sorted car when you think you are making it better, It all depends on you main objective and purpose/use of the car.
If its a daily or a car thats used a lot, Stick with 17`s and springs on the standard struts and maybe a 22mm arb on the rear...All IMO of course

My FSTi with the custom made B14s and on the OEM tyre size 225/45/18 rode perfectly on bumpy pot holed roads.
The advice is good though, stay with 17s and fit a good set of struts and a 22mm rear ARB and you don't need anything else.

I'm tempted to coilover my car but I'm in two minds.
Buy once and forget,ask yourself if You need them to be adjustable soft/hard.
Its important part on Your car why buy it used?
Above coils will cost You 1.5-2k fitted with geo(would touch bilstein, exe-tc and kw v3)plus You wish to have alk, roll centre kit and drop links (rear are crap).
don't do it without roll centre kit,its massive difference with it.

With them being inverted they stand up to more cornering forces and don't stress the strut damper as much as a normal set up, time will tell how that hold up but for the miles I do i can live with them....for now

I don't agree with this. Most of them yes but not all. It all depends on the spring rates and valving of the shocks.
