Yep I'm quite sure apple will profit wildly as usual from palming off these trinkets to unsuspecting would be athletes All part of a general dumbing down, together with usual silver foxes who couldn't give a **** what it does as long as it's apple.

So you don't think you've worn out that "joke" yet?

I couldn't wear it MTBing because it's not robust enough; that screen looks very fragile with no protection at all.

Of course you can wear it mountain biking, it's easily robust enough if you follow my link they tested not only that but also submersion in 3ft of water, which is probably equal to a bit of rain.

Sapphire crystal scratches.
You need physical protection not just some pretend scratch proof glass.
My six month old iPhone 6 had plenty; now replaced after the charge port failed. Oh so reliable...

Matteeboy, you can rub the sapphire crystal Watch against a brick wall and it doesn't scratch, yes you could fall off your mountain bike at such an angle that you fall against a massive diamond but I've got to say it's not likely.

Same goes for your iPhone, you can try as hard as you like to scratch it with keys, nails, coins, usual stuff that might come into contact with it, that won't survive a rubbing on a brick wall but for normal people that's not an issue.

Did you try to ride your bike underwater with your iPhone in your pocket? That will affect the charge port. And no, I won't stop this joke until you stop your comedy reasoning.

No,the phone failed on its own; always in an Apple leather case, no exposure to water - ever.
My 5 did the same.

My comedy reasoning? What about yours; insisting a non waterproof, pathetic battery life watch is any good for sport.

You aren't an athlete. I am. Who's opinion is more valid?

It's great for sport. Not for underwater cycling, but great for sport. It's great at lots of other stuff at the same time and it's good at time.

Is Motorsport a sport? It's very good at that, I'm working on an app.

I'm definitely not an athlete, but I'm quite sporty.

Morning!

As I've said before, the issue here is Apple's decision to call it the Sport. What it is in reality is a cheaper, ligher, less robust version of the standard Apple watch.

It's the watch equivalent of what the Iphone 5C was to the 5S. Same internals but a cheaper (in terms of material costs), more "fun" orientated case to appeal to a different, most likely younger market.

Higher end watches designated "sports" watches are generally more robust and more waterproof than the standard ranges. But apple has gone the other way.

It should really be called the Apple Watch "Lite" or some other "fun" oriented name.

If you don't take the designation "sport" literally then there is no issue. Its just a marketing ploy to make the cheaper version not appear sub standard.

I dislike the name, could have been much better. But bought it mainly for exercise tracking, which is kind of sporty so I'm not going to rant about semantics. It should really have been call the Watch, with another name for the Stainless. It's a pretty common thing, Lucazade sport, Impreza sport, neither of them particularly sporty but only Apple raises the ranter.

Exactly

Apple itself merely draws attention to the lightness of the sports models and their being in keeping with an "active" lifestyle. No where does Apple suggest these are designed for serious sporting activities.

So I'm not sure what all the "ranting" is about to be honest

What started out as Apple Watch turned in to "water proof" vs "water resistance" to who is the most athletic.

Don't forget Apple being racist because some people have black wrist tattoos. Mental.

If Jack had just said its a good smart watch (I'm sure it is) that can be used to track occasional light activities, fine. But no - he went all guns blazing at the suggestion that it's not a proper sports watch.

It's like using a claw hammer to do a sledge hammers job; it'll work eventually but not very well.

Whereas mine isn't very good at reading emails, text or all that other stuff I only do when I'm not exercising.

Being alerted to text/emails whatever would annoy the hell out of me; exercise is time is time away from stuff like that IMO.

I think you'll find that you started the whole debacle, no body else cares if it's no good for fringe sports, I don't care that your watch is crap at everything but underwater cycling.

Why call it APPLE SPORT then?
Why argue to death over water resistance?

You've lost this one had shown once again how demented you are.

Well done.

Here's how it went.

Me: I really like my Watch.
Matt: It's a load of rubbish, how can it be called a sports watch when you can't even ride your mountain bike with it on.
Me: I ride my mountain bike with it on.
Matt: Yeah but I ride my mountain bike in the rain and you can't wear the watch in the rain.
Me: I wear my Watch in the rain on my bike.
Matt: But I ride my mountain bike underwater, real Athletes need a watch that can be used underwater, how is it even called a Sport.

And so on. Now I know why everyone thinks you're a ******.

You on the other hand, all of your posts to this thread have absolutely added value, either than or they added nothing, oh yeah, it was nothing.

See post 370 above.

Why call a T5 camper "Surf". I'm pretty sure it will be a bit rubbish on the waves?

What was "sporty" about the Shogun Sport? or the Dacia Sandero Sport Edition?

You're going to be well disappointed if you buy one of those on name alone.

Christ Matt - you're in PR, you know how it works. Its just a "name"

Matteeboy owns a California, VW don't sell T5's in the US, there's nothing Californian about it whatsoever. But he'll tell you how great it is without mentioning that.

Actually I'll tell you it was great when working but is now sold because it was horrendously unreliable.

Luckily they hang onto their value.

Replaced with a gen 4 Subaru Outback 2.5 petrol manual that will probably outlast me.

Stick that up your deranged pipe and smoke it. He who insults first loses.

Well done.

Tell me if you ever spot a single pro cyclist with an Apple SPORT watch... You just change your argument every time you lose. Which is always.

Outback, that thing wouldn't last 10 minutes in the outback, you need a Toyota mate, as much as I love a Legacy calling that one outback just because it's raised up a bit and has a few bits of extra plastic doesn't mean it's good enough for the outback.

Do you still not see how stupid your argument is?

And, here you go http://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/17/...k-plug-photos/

Give it up Matteeboy you're digging a hole so deep even a superhero like you can't climb out.

Good idea, best go work on your PR, it shouldn't be hard to see great improvements, I'd suggest less typing more thinking.

7 days and 8 pages of it, that's gotta be a record, even by my standards.
