'Chicken'
Chris, some metaphorical cats skin themselves with their own self-destructive doing. Now that's a hilarious situation.
Here, Camo is skinning himself in order to save his skin. Not the best. But at least he's the type of cat who knows what he's doing, and why he's doing it. Still, quite a shameful display in public, and the oppositions' lashes on his under-skin are going to hurt bad!
Resistance, when played like that, is a tool of a fool, not of a wise man. He seems to think he's wise, but I think his non-participation in debate will cost him the loss of some of his little remaining popularity.
Mind you, taking part in the debates with irrational and defensive over worded bollox is also self-destructive, so as per FP's #12, he would have weighed both probabilities and then decided to stay out. At least he's not stopping others to have a debate. If he did that, then that would be the more drastic public display of his self-destruction, in which he would eat his own under-skin. Democracy and all that.
very good. That's a way to make a stand against the accepted norms. Question is how long till one of the mods has a strop over it. As for this thread, who actually cares? The concept of televised debates is just a American *******isation of our political system. Realistically those that want to know more about party politics will look for it and those that don't won't. A televised debate won't change that and realistically all it tells you is who is the best speaker.

No strop from me, but its been noticed.
All this debate...if I bother to watch it (probably will just read the summary on the web), won't change my view that not one candidate should run this country. The despair of it all is having to vote as such that it doesn't allow the worst of the most likely candidates to win the election.
Sadly I think we're succumbing to a Labour victory. Debate or no debate.

Yes. Politicians bickering at each other is no news, really. As a spectator, one can have 'what's your point' approach to cut the crap and derive whatver sense that can be derived; out of that contest. Or, one can simply watch for mere thrill because one enjoys conflict. You get all sorts.

I've had a thought about this, imagine if there was some sort of attack during the main debate, be it a UK lone nutter or a terrorist that successfully killed all the current leaders of each party (no harm to the public/audience).
Would you rejoice, or mourn their death?
...Or would you sink into further despair at the shower of shyte (politicians) that will scurry around to take their respective leader's place?

Christ, that would be an extreme act of terrorism, even if that lone nutter is to be a white British person with nothing to do with Islam! Why would someone rejoice something like that???
No, you won't just let any gutter party to take over. In situation like that, you also don't find the first random geezer from the street to make him a PM. If that was the case, Farage would have had the best chance going, even if he was shot in the leg.
I reckon if we leave it upto Noel Gallagher, he may just make someone random a PM, though. His out of the box thinking may just save the country!

Yeah.
The thought occurred to me that for the disillusioned voter, there is no democratic way to get rid of the current leaders of the main political parties. Hence the more non-democratic methods.
I expect the turnout to be even lower this year. That means the majority of the UK's population are non-voters. Compare that to the turnout for the Scottish referendum; Give people someone/something worth voting for and they'll come out in droves. Something severely drastic needs to change in UK politics to have something like that happen here.

That was pretty much my assumption but reading Chris' post back I could be wrong. In which case that's pretty poor form from who ever did delete it.
Anyway Swati would like for this thread to be kept on topic so let's respect her wishes. I think it's absolutely appalling that your signature has been deleted, and you know that, too.
Insulting someone for being thick is no better than insulting someone for their race, height, weight, sexual preference, religion, hair colour etc etc.
If you are sick of reading certain insults then I suggest you start with the ones you dish out on a daily basis.
I'll say no more on the subject, as the intention of your signature was to create even more arguments.
