Delusional. A bigger screen isn't in any way copying and I doubt you'll find many quotes from Apple saying that they're not the way to go.

Apple launch Apple Pay
Samsung then launch Samsung Pay, not Samsung Cash, or Samsung Money or Samsung anything else Samsung Pay.

I mean come on, you're wearing the emperors new clothes.

Well then you can say Apple copied Loop Pay with Apple Pay, not Apple Cash or Apple Money or Apple anything else, just like when it copied Samsung's Ativ S with it's iPhone 6. The Samsung S6 has Loop Pay as well as NFC which allows it to be used with not just NFC readers but also millions of regular magnetic strip card readers that already in used in retail outlets. That is game changing.

Just looked for a Loop, nope, not finding the loop from Loop Pay, I can find Looppay.

It's great that the Samsung can be used with regular magnetic strip card readers, which we don't use anymore, can you explain how it does that? Genuinely curious, does it have a magnetic stripe on the phone that drag through the reader?

Seems to work in the same fasion that current contactless cards do, S6 being the first phone to have it in built, whilst others will require a case.
The bonus is it works with current card readers, unlike paypal/apple/google.

Edit - Seems Android pay is on the way

How does it work with current card readers? Especially magnetic strip readers as claimed.

It doesn't work with Chip and Pin so good luck with the mag strip

"Yes. You can add chip cards to your LoopPay account today and use them at mag stripe readers (MSR) just like any other payment card. However, if the merchant POS terminal is configured to accept EMV cards, you will be instructed to use the physical card to make the transaction via the chip and PIN card reader. LoopPay will soon be announcing a solution that will address this inconvenience. More information on LoopPay and EMV."

I've just read how it works and that isn't going to fly here. Fine with no chip and pin, useless otherwise, when was the last time you swiped a credit card let alone convinced a sales assistant that your phone will do that instead by playing a tune.

Nice try. Only you would get confused over semantics.

No we generally don't use the magnetic strip on payment cards anymore, but all payment terminals still have them nonetheless. This is how it works:

LoopPay uses Magnetic Secure Transmission.

MST technology generates changing magnetic fields over a very short period of time. This is accomplished by putting alternating current through an inductive loop, which can then be received by the magnetic read head of the credit card reader. The signal received from the device emulates the same magnetic field change as a mag stripe card when swiped across the same read head. LoopPay works within a 3-inch distance from the read head. The field dissipates rapidly beyond that point, and only exists during a transmission initiated by the user.

And then you realise that every card you have apart from your gym membership has Chip and Pin and the Magnetic reader is useless.

Magnetic Strip card readers are used all round the world actually, only this week I used one at KFC.

Not everywhere has chip'n'pin you know, especially in the US.

Many Chip'n'pin machines have a mag stripe reader on them, a requirement for reading cards that are not from the UK.

You're making yourself look really stupid now!

You must live up north, I haven't signed for card payment in years and to be honest probably wouldn't.

Oh come on, it was your w@nk fantasy Jobs that said no one is going to buy a big phone.

I agree that Samsung should have chosen a different name though, it does lack imgination.

Samsung acquired LoopPay, "Samsung Pay" is just a logical amalgamation of the two names so it's not copying Apple intentionally. Apple tried to own the letter "i" and failed and will do so again if it tries to own the word "Pay".

He still said it though, but they had to wait until he karked it before they did it. If he hadn't died they would probably still have small phones.

Have you got over his death yet Jack, or do you still crack one out in his honour now and gain, for old time's sake?

I've been waiting to upgrade my S3 for ages. This no external sd card and hardwired battery business is really putting me off though...
