Oh bollocks. Honestly, stop!
I can't take any more, you'll end up making me throw something at my screen.
I rare beast such as a white sti and you are put off by a strut brace and dump valve?
That says to me that you were never serious about the purchase and you let your heart rule your head. Which is fine. We have all been there.
Just be bloody honest about it.
I tell you what, I will give £10 if you can get 50 other people on here to do the same.
Just to stop the bullsh!t!

But aren't dump valves detrimental to the engine?
Can of worms LOL that will make this thread a 10 pager
To be honest if I was the OP I would propose to CP if the car passes an independent check paid by them, then I would go ahead with the sale.
Independent as in a company chosen by you!

Anyways. As much as I'm inclined to say this is a bit more Karma for CP, I hope they've got this thread recorded because you seem to be taking them for a ride.

This is getting ridiculous, AS stated in my first post and now confirmed by the OP, the only reason he changed his mind is because a load of gob shytes on here started giving it the "oooooh you don't wana do that mate"
Which would have been fine if the CAR was a dog, but guess what it's NOT and I'm sure plenty of you would be happy to buy it off a more reputable dealer and bath in the kudos of having one of less than 10 white UK widetrack cars EVER produced.
Who cares what the dealer paid for it, which is basically no ones business but the dealer and the guy he bought it off (more fool him for not checking the market) I estimate the car being worth £9k all day long as a PRIVATE sale, because of the colour and it being a widetrack, so it's not unreasonable for a dealer to have it up for £10,500 personally if I really wanted it I'd have used the tyres and brakes as a reason to have £500 off otherwise I'd not have done the deal.
All that's ACTUALLY happened is the lad has had his head turned by folks in here, then given the dealer some stick about his rep and a fight has ensued which has resulted in BOTH camps digging their heels in and getting the hump.
Meanwhile laddo is £500 out of pocket feeling like he's been mugged and a VERY nice car is sat on CP's pitch un-sold.
If it were me I'd call them, Apologise for being a bit of a dick and acting in haste, get the inspection done and see if I could get a few quid knocked off for tyres and brakes, then all being well BUY the ******* car, because it's a nice one.

in all honesty the car its self looks a pretty nice example even though its being sold by a bunch of cowboys, take a chance on it and go with a knowledgeable person and get it checked out if all is good then drive it away and don't look back,if something comes up on the inspection that hasn't been mentioned then collect your deposit and walk away. if you buy it then yes they are making a profit but isn't everyone these days you cant let that put you off, you were fully commited to paying for it before this thread.. a dump valve and strutbrace are hardly huge modifications to replace if you want it standard.
all in all you could miss out on a very nice car on the strength of the people who are selling it...

This is exactly what I and many others said pages ago, truth is as gear head says, OP wants out as he has got cold feet and is clutching for excuses. We've all done it before so no shame in that, but he should stop slagging of a car and a dealer that in this instance hasnt really done much wrong.

mate the bits that are in the car won't be for long if there see this thread
they take 10 mins to take off
you liked the car , test drove it still liked it , gave them £500 deposit
your only chance of getting you money back is take a independent person with you to give you a report in the car , if it's not 100% ask for a deposit refund
if it's all good buy it and be happy
stop posting it on a open forum as your not doing your self any favours
just my opinion
stu
ps , or you could just buy my spec c ;-)

Personally I think the OP would have been far better off paying for the inspection and then consider putting down a deposit it all seems *** backwards to me.

This whole situation is bizarre, granted the sales tactics were underhand but this is a used car dealership, not sure what else you would expect.
1. This guy saw a car he liked, test drove it, committed to buy it by placing a £500 deposit.
2. Everyone on here told him to run and gave him demons.
3. He's now looking for every random excuse under the sun to get out of proceeding.
End of the day, the dealers are dicks we know that, but the car is 99% likely to be a good un, this guy could now be driving his car quite happy having not been put off by a select few on here. Just because a dealership has a bad reputation doesnt mean the car is bad, they didnt build it did they, they're a middle man and just passing it on.
I don't think you have much hope getting your deposit back OP, but if i was in your position i'd be going back to them with my tail between my legs, giving the car a good once over (professional inspection if you so wish) and proceeding as planned before everyone on here gave you demons and essentially did you out of £500.
It's all very well people telling you to cut your losses and run when it isn't their £500. I don't see the same people offering to reimburse you even though they feel so strongly about it.
Get the car checked out and if all is good, buy what you wanted originally. If it isn't good and it flags up issues, you then have your reason for getting your deposit back.
The situation really is a no brainer.

You seen the car....
You drove the car...
You wanted the car....
You paid a deposit.... End of story.
The mods didn't bother you before you paid the deposit, it's only now they are being used as a reason to not go ahead with the sale and foolishly think you can get your deposit back...
A few pages in you posted that you had rang the garage and told them about this thread, told them about the bad reviews and that this was why you were wanting out... You told them to look at the thread aswell....
Let's be honest, the mods are nothing on this car, non performance related, the car comes with a strut brace as standard, someone tinted the lights and fitted a dump valve.... All these things are visible and not concealed.

The haters are being haters because they have not been shafted.
Gotta love Scoobynet.
Personally, if i found out the reputation of the garage after i left i deposit, i would be wanting it back as well. they only have themselves to blame on that one.
And going on previous examples of CP cars, 99% likely its a good one is a statement based on nothing.

So the guy no longer wants the car and wants his deposit back because he doesn't want to do business with a company known as, for want of a better word.."crooks"
It's well documented on here how bad CP are yet some of you are making the OP out to be in the wrong....Snet at its best!

Interesting read.
As stated by other members, the 'mods' clause is slightly cringeworthy.
It'll be interesting to see how this pans out as personally I don't think the garage have done anything wrong.

A simple Google search before shelling out the deposit would have sufficed. No-one is doubting the reputation of the company, but clutching at straws for a refund is pointless. Also, going back to CP and saying "erm, i've read you're a **** outfit so i want my money back" is never going to work.
We all make **** ups, learn by them, he wanted the car, he was happy until everyone on here started sticking their nebs in, the ONLY reason that all changed was the opinion of others, simple.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, if everyone is so keen for this guy to walk away and lose £500 based on your own opinions, why arent you all offering to give him the money yourself. Principles don't really come into it then do they. It's easy sat on a forum playing with other peoples money.
The car is more than likely fine, he test drove it and was happy, were there any noticeable issues OP? You were happy enough to place a deposit on what is probably a good car? Unfortunately you've been stitched up good and proper by other forum members putting doubts in your mind, that's my opinion which i'm entitled to.

I've been shafted for £6,000 before, so your statement is based on nothing. It's called a learning curve.

So hopefully the OP, with more ***** than you it seems not going after your £6K, manages to get his deposit back.
Wish him look and support the fight against outfits like Cheshire Performance instead of being a keyboard warrior.

Your opinion is one that is slating another person for not wanting to do business with a company who have a history of abusing innocent people with cars, and no after sales support, so my opinion, like you say, is that you are.
You need to look at the bigger picture rather than a single speckle on the canvas.
On his drive home if a wheel falls off, he calls CP, they will refuse any service. If you knew about CP and their after sales tactics, then you would understand this is why he is concerned. Simples really. It is'nt rocket science son.

It is his choice not to do business with them, whatever his reasons, so support from fellow enthusiasts based on the reputation of this company is ideally what is required in this situation.
Personally, I feel that is a good thing to do.

Not at all, I am helping support a person who dosen't want to do business with a company that has shafted many people, and indeed many fellow Scoobynet members with their poor cars and poor after sales service.

CP may have earned a (deserved or not) bad reputation but in this case they have done nothing wrong.
Ive been in business for almost 25 years and soon realised a fair proportion of the buying public are stupid. Other than a load of hot air being spouted on here, nothing has changed since he viewed, drove and fell in love with the car and subsequently put his card in their machine and a verbal contract was put in place to buy the car
Personally I would give the OP his money back if anything just to try and earn some brownie points, but they don't have to and shouldn't have to.

They created their reputation by ripping people off. If a person decides they do not want to do business with a company after learning of their antics, dispite whether the car is valid or not, then that is up to them, and the refund is also based on the car not being advertised correctly.
Whether they do have to and they should have to is entirely speculative at this point, but I am 99.9% certain if this goes to small claims the judge will award in the OP's favour.
Fingers crossed for the OP.
