I'm disappointed in this news. With the name Ivan The Terrible you'd have to banking on a top ten slot.

So that's three quarters who don't revere him.

Obama deserves to be on that list, because he was wanting to give weapons to the Syrian rebels, who then joined ISIS.

Obama does and always did support the secular opposition. Yes, some of those will defect to IS, particularly if their alternative is to be decapitated or crucified or forced to watch their wives and daughters be raped and enslaved, but the majority have stood firm. You're peddling half-truths.

But at the end of the day, the Assad regime is less of a risk to the world than ISIS, If Hossain hadn't been killed, ISIS would never had happened.

Quite correct. But Blair and Bush knew best and the establishment sympathisers on here like Martin will never say or dare to think otherwise!

not as far as I am aware, but I tend to steer clear of the tabloids, so may have missed the arrest

although I do know the LTA put a roof on Centre court to stop any further impromptu renditions of -- Congratulations

Blair and Bush gave Iraq a glimmer of hope (and yes I'm painfully aware of the cost), but that hope was snatched away by Islamists of the very worst flavour. As you know, Chris, hindsight is 20/20.

But James it isn't hindsight is it? There are a myriad of people far more qualified than I that warned them what would happen before the event.

No one is saying Saddam Hussein is a great guy, but sometimes you have to accept a) the lesser of the two evils and b) that some countries don't want Western style democracy forced upon them any more than we would want a dictatorship forced upon us.

Yes, I accept that now, I just don't accept that Blair and Bush were entirely ignoble in their actions. The Iraqi people had a chance for a better way of life. My intense dislike is for those people who've taken it away from them, not those who created the opportunity.

You are right there were many people who warned about post war instability. That is why I'm angry about the total mess we made of the 'peace'.

JT is right though, we should be more willing and able to blame those extremists who actually did the killing, they had a choice

Fair comment and I agree that Blair (and so some extent Bush) was probably doing what he thought was right, but they did seem to have the blinkers on over a lot of things including the legitimacy of their actions.
