I agree, the vast majority of claimants are just trying it on, hoping to get a few quid back for nothing. I really can't believe so many were stupid enough to not realise they had taken it out in the first place. After all you signed the agreement. Those that were mis-sold PPI are perfectly legit in getting their money back but are in the minority, which is why most claims are now thrown out unless proved otherwise.

We got a very large refund on a loan we took out via a bank.

They wrote to us, and informed us we may have been mis sold

(as it was, we were) the cheque came some 3 weeks later

Just a heads up, there is another action in the offing at the moment

relating to card protection.

Letters are being sent to affected parties to make them aware,

my Mrs has recieved hers last week

Girlfriend took out loan protection on a 10k barclay loan drugs for dying sister back home ( she died anyway )which they never paid out on....

Should we pursue it.? ......this was 2007

She must have paid 10k in interest alone, but couldn't work whilst settling her stay in uk

( she's got indefinite now)

So, did you go ahead with this in the end?

I wish she would, I think she may been delaying whilst British citizenship claim was in the pipeline

The process couldn't be easier with Barclays, as it can all be done online. Account number(s), approximate dates and sums borrowed is pretty much all you need. The odds of them not still having all the details for a payout on something as recent as 2007 are astronomically small (they still had records for me going back nearly 10 years further).
