Defo a wind up unless its new clever marketing strategy by prodriverules ,, who in their right mind would bother getting a £20 pile of scrap painted anyway

which bit the car or the ball of masking tape??

but this is an issue with painters as seen by what c and k motors aka ryan prodrive rules did to dave wongs (dave-w) car.

very poor job with paint runs and numerous issues topped of with glueing a roof spoiler on that fell off at speed.

seems an industry full of cowboys with hit and miss quality.

£800 for a metallic is pretty cheap. Get what you pay for but yes the doors are a different colour. See ropey jobs every week really is down to who painted the car. Always look at prior work. Flatting and polishing will remove the dirt and runs in the surface of the paint but the doors need a few more layers of Base coat.

Im still failing to see how anyone could possibly of spent £5900 on that pile of parts and paint ? Where is this figure plucked from ?

Even if it was a mk1 gti campaign it would have to be mint ( as in never painted ) to be up there

It looks like hes painted individual panels without blending and has polished the panels he hasnt painted to try and make them look 'fresh'. For the money youve paid id expect a full bare shell respray inclusive of acid dipping the shell and all panels removed and painted off the car inside and out.

I found it odd that you registered on clubgti.com to specifically tell us this but not one thing about this show car you were attempting to build but I'm now even more curious why you'd register on a subaru site to do the same

£5,900 for that paint job??

You could have bought this mk2 GTi, thats just been repainted, and got a VR6 lump fitted for less then what you paid!!

I have posted on more than one site that the guy who painted the car has either posted on or been mentioned on. I would like him to see the opinions of others so he has to stop denying there is anything wrong with the car. If I can post on forums and everybody can see that the panels are different colours then doesn't that prove him wrong? He needs to see that it is not just me that can blatantly see the job is wrong.

I have also found it reassuring that it's not just me that thinks the whole job needs starting again, and for him to hear that from not just me shows that he is not in the right if he suggests something ridiculous like just repainting the doors as a solution! As depressing as that is

£5900 for that!!! Ur having a laugh!!! After a shafting like that you should have left ur boxers in his spray booth, Now on a serious note record all convos and get as many pics etc as trading standards may be ur only option.

If that don't work put a brick on the accelerator and aim for the work shop doors.

All the best and hope you get it sorted

I'm confused. Are you implying that you were quoted £5,900.00 of real, proper money, to respray a 1987, 1600cc, non-GTi Golf, that has a market value less than £1,000....and you thought that it was a good idea?

I'd love to hear what your plans and budget are for the car, if you think nothing of dropping £6k on the paint job. £60k and some flavour of Lamborghini V12, powered by unobtanium? Full interior retrim in Panda hide? Solid gold wheels?
