Power Figures.......No BS ones either....
Actually I am going to add my inheritance worth.
What happened to horses for courses?
why does no one accept that most people who run a car, bought it (or were lent it
) because they love it. It is the car they chose for whatever merits it has.
Given this premise, some of us like to mod our cars and then go on a track or a rolling road and tell others about our achievements, such as dingy being pleased with his bhp.
As enthusiasts, surely we recogise that each of us appreciates the merits of others cars even if they are not our own personal choice of car.
I prefer my 22B to anything else at the moment, because I has everything I want (more power and less rear end would be great - but hey). It is simply the best car - for me.
There is nothing else anyone can say to that because it is subjective. If dingy loves his car, then great, it is so nice to see someone enjoying something and taking pride in it. The same goes for W9GTR, and Craig, and Cem etc.
Remember, that scoobynet is here because we are like minded subaru/car nuts. It isnt a competition, so dont throw down any gauntlets, and dont accept any challenges.
The only thing that pisses me off on this thread, is how people misinterpret eachother and throw insults, before clarifynig the issue.
Its all fun, so keep it that way.
PS. For interests sake, I bought my car because it was cheap and there is no other way I could afford it. I am however the lamest driver and cant handle anywhere near its abilities.
Its lucky that I can leave it on the driveway and stare at it, because it sits motionless as well as any car I know.

I've avoided this thread for as long as I could!
I think we all need to chill a bit.
Like it or not... Arron's comments are mostly right on the money.
I personally dislike skylines, but have to admit to them being incredibly competent cars on fast circuits.
Now, this does not necessarily mean that it is quicker than the mighty MkII, but it is very very likely..
Do you think that the skyline has enough power to wheelspin the two rear wheels of the MK2? If you transplanted those wheels onto the skyline and disconnected the front drive, would it be able to get all of it's power down?
If the answer is "no it couldn't" then (based on that isolated information) the skyline is quicker in acceleration, as it has far more traction. I know this is not as simple as that as we need to take weight into account, etc... but... tyres produce more grip if you put more weight on them, so it's not that unfair.
Now... I genuinely don't know aything about the MkII and it REALLY may have some incredible set-up that would allow it to out handling and out perform Steve's skyline, so I am not saying "car x is better than car y"...
but..
it *IS* incredibly blinkered to take a peak BHP figure and base a decision no how fast a car will be around a track.
Take 2 cars...
one with 1000BHP and another with 300BHP... which is faster?
There is absolutely no way you can tell from that information.
The 1000BHP car might be developing 150BHP all the way through the rev range and the suddenly blip to 1000BHP for between 5000 and 5001 revs...
The 300BHP car might be producing 300BHP all the way through the rev range.
In which case, the 300BHP car would eat the 1000BHP car for breakfast.
I am sure Mikes and Dingy's cars are awesome bits of kit, and I have no way of knowing whether they will infact be quicker than the skyline of not, but what Birdy was trying to say is that the figures mean nothing. What's important is the overall package.
Cheers
Simon
PS. JUST TO MAKE THIS CLEAR... I am NOT saying that the skyline is faster. I have no way of telling. I'm just saying that the peak BHP figure is meaningless when discussing the overall competency of the car.

Simon, I'm sure your views are Valid.
But I have never been passed by a skyline, ever........
They are good for a Road car, but the are well expensive to tune.
I passed him on the track, actually destroyed out the old hairpin....
the MK II is GRP IV Tarmac Spec, with crap brakes.....
Take the Bailey MK II.....Never seen a Saloon car as fast as that on the track....
simple and true, even won the vecta challenge.....

Its at AVA beef you donkey - I told you about them ages ago and gave you concrete reasons why they can run up much more powerful cars than anywhere else in the country!
Unfortunately they are in glasgow which aint local but they will cope with your cars nae probs - didnt even sweat with mikes on the rollers and the cooling is out of this world although its about to be turned up a whole load more!
Martin
PS - stop all your petty arguements other people - I had fun at the rolling road day

There u go again M8 letting yourself down with the most absurd cretinous statement next to Biffo the Bears.U R a pi55 taking barstuard who is usually humourous with it but on this occasion......
I am not stupid enough to make claims about my car being faster than any other car on the planet cos I am very much of this earth. Keep reading the beano mate and taking REVS and Max Power to the toilet with you
Simon as always the mediator I respect your opinion , but U R wrong of course
Biffo you wasted nothin but your own time posting that crap on here. Read my earlier post regarding Donno.

W9GTR,
The Nissan Skyline, was a car built with women drivers in mind........and is powered accordingly.......need I say more.
O,K I will..........I saw your car at Donno and I noticed there was a female on the track, Anne I believe her name was..........and on several occassions you came plundering past us with Annie running rings around you in a little Peugeot (another womans car with a woman driving)
.
P,S Micheal Schumacher wants his rear spoiler back...........(why do people put formula one rear spoilers on their Go Karts.
There is one thing I like about your car though.......................Nice colour init.

It amazes me the crap alot of you Scooby / Evo / Skyline owners come out with. I am deeply offended by the sweeping statements about the money issue, as like Craig, if I wanted a Skyline / Evo / Scooby, I would have one - simple as that. However, the above cars are ALL too slow compared to what I have chosen to spend my money on building. A Skyline would have to have 640 GENUINE bhp to even MATCH the power to weight of mine or Steve's MkII.
I know you say power to weight isn't everything, but it gives an idea of how well something will be catapulted out of the corners. Light weight also aids turn in and handling. The suspension / transmission is the next thing to need attention, and as I have seriously upgraded mine in this respect (I could have bought ANOTHER Cossie for the amount spent!), suffice to say it is well sorted and will handle the power.
The money that has been spent on the car in the last 18 months could have bought an Evo VII, so that is pish to say that us lowly Cossie drivers would have other cars if we could afford it. I enjoy my Cossie so much that I would NEVER consider selling it. It is so much fun and the handling compared to a standard Cosworth would be like comparing a GTR with a Micra!
With regard to Steve (W9 GTR) assuming he knows how well my car is set up, what aload of tosh. I would be willing to put money on the fact that my car is faster round Donington than his current set up (and he can even get Birdy to drive his). The Cossie may not have the Kudos of his Skyline, but it will be faster on this particular track and would annialate it at Snetterton.
With regard to the ficticious power claims for Skylines, if you honestly think it is producing that kind of power, you will have no qualms on sticking it on the rollers and PROVING it. However, I doubt you have the *****, because that way it would prove how full of **** the Skyline tuning companies are. If that particular one had 700bhp that I went up against (1.8bar, cams, uprated fuel pumps, different injectors, every single HKS bit under the sun and Tarantula ECU upgrade etc), then I'm a fecking Scot
!
The rollers at AVA will most certainly take it, as although a Skyline runs in 2wd format in normal use, it would need to go on a 4wd rolling road in case the computer controlled diffs decided to transfer the power to the front wheels for whatever reason (due to a bit of wheelspin on the rollers). So Birdy, you need to learn about the cars you are talking about before commenting
.
I'm also miffed that someone (Birdy
) has had the nerve to hijack this thread and turn it into this kind of slagging match and then is surprised when people get offended by his comments. He then bleets about getting stick in the Chat room. Birdy, you're a hypocrite! Dish it out by all means, but that means you have to take it in return!

So Steve (W9), get your **** up to Scotland and prove the power of your car and then let me know when you are next on track and we'll show you what 1970's / 1980's technology can still do...
That is if you are man enough to back up your derogatory comments! In fact I think as punishment you should be strapped in my car and then Dingy's and taken around the track so you can feel first hand what the cars are all about. Perhaps that would open your eyes a bit. You could then reciprocate (that is if you allowed such riff-raff as us in your car)
.
Bye-bye

As Mike says....Get your bag of computerised nuts and bolts on a nice rolling road to see how much power you DON`T have
Better still get it on the track with Dingy`s and Mike R`s cars.
All that technology and you cant even keep up with a couple of 2 litre Fords

Mike,
But don't we all know that Rolling Roads are JUST Rolling Bulls h i tometers!!!!
I mean we ALL KNOW your Ford Herz is only pushing out 30bhp at 2000psi!!!!
The only reason you can afford your car upgrades is the fact that you still buy your clothes from the AGE CONCERN shop!!!!!.....sorry I meant your DRESSES!!!
LOL

Don't know what ship u just got off but I would suggest that u forget spending any more money on your Sierra and save up for a place at Night school
.So u think that a sierra or escort with a two litre lump with 16 valves and four cylinders (harsh as ****) is easily capable of tuning to GENUINE 500 ish bhp where as the six cylinder 2.6 litre 24 V twin turbo engine on the R34 is not and we're all dreaming. I don't know who talks BIGGER BOLLOX U or Biffo (although according to his mum Biffo is all bollox and no ****)
WAKE up and smell the coffee.
"My feckin saxo will blow u into the weeds maaan my 1.6 fuel injection man puts out a genuine 400 bhp man with the double overhead underhangs and wurzel springs I fitted (nicked). No way u'll get that from a cossie with a measly 2 litres" said the 19 year old to Mike R in the pub as he reversed his puffa.

Biffo
What grand power outputs are u talking about, I KNOW mine runs at 400bhp I didn't tinker with it myself I paid Middlehurst for the 420 Upgrade I or they have never claimed any more. I am contemplating a second upgrade of 550 bhp but I CANT AFFORD IT at the moment, there are u happy now! 10k and I cant afford it.
BTW just where did I make derogatory comments about your car rainbow warrior? I was just defending my chariot against the torrant of abuse that the RS boys were dishing. I certainly never made a comment about u being able to AFFORD a better car in fact I take offence at that, a snob is what I aint. The only person u'll see me jip about money is Harj who has long pockets (he thinks) and short arms.
You seem a well balanced individual my friend.......A chip on both shoulders.
Thanks for the entertainment and goodnight

OK,
It seems, after having re-read my post, I replied whilst demonstrating a little snobbery. That was totally unintentional and if I have offended anyone then I am sorry.
The topic I was failing to understand was why someone would prefer a £500 Escort to a £50,000 Skyline. I can see now, escpecially after Adam
showed me the error of my ways. I suppose some people look for something else in a car, something many of us would be blind to. Mike rounded it up perfectly for me when saying 'once bitten, forever smitten'. Am I right in saying that you guys have an unquenched thirst for power? I know the kind of power you guys get from a Cossie will not be matched by a Skyline lump. Although the Skyline may reach a higher BHP, it will never match the power to weight ratio of these Fords.
I accept that these cars are ferociously fast. Admittedly, I have never been in the car with neither Mike or Dingy, but I'd be stupid to deny their capabilities, they have both come past me on track like I was parked and I don't believe for a second that my car is slow.
I also accept that this thread has degenerated and and if at any fault of mine, then I'm sorry
Can we get back to talking figures before this thread enters my realm?
