TBH there aren't many out and out horror films I like, I positively hate slashers, I suppose I'm more a spooky mystery orientated kinda chap.

I thought the films antagonist was way sexier than the protagonists girlfriend too :/

...and what was with the dumb sub-plot of the geek going with the (very very hot) Emo girl? Filler?

I do love a "scary" horror film too,like the possession of Michael king for example.
I also love "slasher gore" horror like inside, martyrs and storm warning.
In fact the only films I deeply enjoy are horror related.

I loved the side story of the slightly oddly matched but well played couple who actually go to the real prom. Quite clever how the girl is linked to the main story, and a touching moment later on which links her in.
Horror, dark humour and gore........can't go wrong

Same with my Brother-In-Law-pending marriage. He liked Prometheus and it took me two days to lose buffer face. I've seen it since and enjoyed it. Go figure.

VHS 2 was scarier than 1 imo.

I have most of your list on my portable hard-drive ready to watch.

I have a film called the devils backbone which is supposed to be very scary. might watch that tonight

Yeah VHS two was good also, I liked the zombie section.
The devils backbone is Spanish,, great reviews but I couldn't get into it as the sound was a bit off, out of sink in my copy

Just watched the first 90 mins of Salem's Lot, after a colleague told me it stopped them sleeping for 3 weeks, totally crap tbh, it was naff, dated and anti-scary.

One of the final straws was the overtly dramatic music for a scene where someone puts an 'opening soon' sign in a shop window.

It was like a 70's Kids channel Lost Boys.

Mind you,films that used to be classified 18 can be watched by 8 year olds now.Never had anything as graphic as there is now.Gore or ****

Watching salem's lot as a kid frightened the hell out of me, it's the one film that stuck with me through growing up, I used to Sellotape the edge of my curtains shut to eliminate gaps lol.
I suspect if I watched it now I'd probs laugh.

You would, especially how the movie freeze frames every time a vampire goes for the jugular or something pops up true ghost-train style.

It's hard to believe the film (tv series) is 6 years newer than The Exorcist, credit to William Friedkin's timeless direction.

watched When the lights went out last night, pretty scary until it goes all Hollywood with too much CGI. It's based on true events just down the road from where I live.

I watched this a year or so ago, a few good jumps, loved the way the producers realised a proper 70's atmosphere with the set and clothing, worked really well.

Glad you enjoyed headhunters, it is a great film, now you need to watch "jackpot" same writer Jo Nesbo. Again a fantastic film, in post 132 I have given a quick synopsis.

Was not surprised to read Headhunters is being remade in Hollywood, you do wonder when those coke riddled film executives are going to come up with something original

Just watched Lake Mungo. It's hard not to believe it's not a real documentary. I didn't find it scary but it certainly trumped in the creepy stakes.

I didn't actually get it though.

Just watched As above so below, critics hated it but I liked it. It was kinda Indiana Jones meets The Goonies meets Blair Witch.

Deffo makes my top 20 scary list.
