its called modifying rather than writing and dreaming about it fitting different parts to a car that you like
i know you dont know your models very well but its nothing like a spec c other than a roof vent as it has large rear spoiler skirts bumper spats etc
Please find me a 54 plate wagon for £1500, I'd like to buy another one.

Funny how you always try and turn things around and make out like people are lying, well sorry to disappoint you but I don't do tall tales all the evidence of my recent purchases is in my post history for anyone that can be arsed to look.

Oh you got one thing right though, your car is nothing like a Spec C and never will be, it is however a "Spec P" Fake Track.

Just remind us all about the "mods" you've done to your superior poverty spec uk sti that's sooooooo perfect out of the box that you've spent a fortune on "Modding" it in a vain attempt to make it something it's not.

oops that sounds familiar, are you sure it's not actually a WRX as you seem to be doing exactly what you give WRX owners stick for, do I sense some wide track envy here, surely your not trying to make your car look like something it's not.

id love an omega too rwd and v6 yum yum
Thought you got someone else to fit your roof flap cos you weren't confident doing it yourself.
Don't see why an sti is any better base car for big power, moderate maybe, but big power anything that will need changing on a WRX will need changing on an sti as well.
I suppose the only advantage is the stuff taken off the sti can be sold on for more money than the equivalent WRX parts, but whether that would make up the difference in the initial outlay for an sti over a WRX is debatable.

Not all WRX owners want a high level tea tray stuck on the back of their car.

Agree with you about the omega though, good cars.

have you got modding envy as all you can do is talk about it
if i wanted to makes it look like a spec c id have to remove most of the bits fitted. only spec c part i have is a flap like lots of people fit.

its not about money its about enjoyment, try dont just talk about it. unless you dont have the skills to do it

then again its pointless spending money on an old high mileage entry level estate i guess so just talking about it makes more sense

The best Impreza ever made was the Blob V-limited WRX. It has the stronger jap engine, AVCS, STI styling and faster gearbox. So basically map a big turbo for 430/350 and most expensive sub 550bhp STI's will have to yield.

Truly a great car that probably can be found for peanuts.

much better than a uk wrx but still weak bottom end so nowhere near 430 bhp on standard internals.

Oh god here we go again.

Fat Thomas, you do realise that this isn't 'your' site. Everyone is allowed to have opinions without the fear of being harrassed by you every sodding time.

At first it was a little amusing, now it's embarrassing to have someone like you in this community.

Back off and let other members have a discussion for once.

This was pretty much my dilema when I was looking for a blobeye. I kept changing my mind between the two and had a look at a few of each. In the end I found a 346 bhp wrx sl that already had most of the bits updated that I would have to change if I had bought an sti anyway and end up going for big power and had enough grunt to amuse me in the meantime.

Only thing it is missing is a 6 speed conversion but for what I payed For it I would have needed at least another 3k for a half decent sti so not worth paying the difference for me anyway. Had I have planned to go to 400 bhp or just over when it eventually gets rebuilt I would have definitely gone with the sti but for my situation it didn't really seem worth it.

There's my 2pence thrown in anyway!

Nope I don't envy you not one tiny bit.

Some of us are doers and don't feel the need to shout about stuff, I'm quietly pottering along doing my own thing as I have always done.

As for skills, don't make me laugh, you'd need to live another 100yrs to get close to my level mr desk jockey.

For starters I can pull out a quote by one of fat-toms's STI clique stating the jdm WRX engine has a safe limit of 450bhp and that several people have run them over 500bhp. But I don't feel I have to stick up for the far superior WRX anymore so I'll leave it at that..

Throw in the cooler air of a large turbo running lower boost and you have one master of STI death.

I'd fancy 500/350 a WRX against any 500-700bhp Newage STI.

But neither the gearbox or engine internals would take anywhere near that bhp and let's not forget if a wrx is running 500bhp its not really a wrx anymore!

Gearbox will take 500/350 and engine if driven accordingly. 450/330 would be wiser though and better for street pawnage and tbh we are still very much bolt-on at this stage.

Just for clarification....MY04 JDM WRX V Limited Rod part number = 12100AA081/190.....MY04 UK WRX = 12100AA081/190

Pretty conclusive...

Edit to add............The MY04 JDM STI and MY04 UK STI uses part number 12100AA180....This also includes the MY04 Spec C

Why not do it then?
If you Get a proper gearbox and bottom end like the sti though you won't have to compromise!
But this sums up the wrx to a tee,a compromise!

The 6 speed gearbox is the biggest compromise in the Impreza universe.

It would turn a 450bhp WRX into a painfully slow car. It would delete it's own purpose.

AFAIK most Subaru's would handle power better if you heat wrapped the Turbo, downpipe and up-pipe and protected that vulnerable cylinder 3.

I'm guessing this is one of the things Innovative Tuning did on their well used stock 666bhp 2.5 bottom end.

Is there a Turbo blanket on the market that you can fit without removing the Turbo?

Would it be a wise policy to increase injector duty on cylinder 3 other the others at revs to help fight temps and det??
