You get them but not here.

Many claim the AWD bluntens the handling and they are slightly slower.
Still good though.

Thanks for the overview.

I take it (as standard) it's a shedload quicker than your previous STI?

What's the servicing costs like and is it 12k / 12 month service intervals?

I understand it likes to rev and holds the power up the top end?

Yes shaun right up to the red line, very little lag, you do notice it a little but nothing massive, service is yes I think 12 but I took service plan 36 a month.

Although I don't know costs for the three I'm told by many that the sp saves you about 200 to 300 quid over the 3 years...

Take that into account a normal Audi service is around 300 well it was in my a4 in 2006 so I doubt it's gone down, the AMG tax as everyone calls it makes i think the first service just short of 500 2nd is 800 ish..then a little one.

Also RENNtechs remap makes the car a lot better, if you use setting 6 which one guy I know does it comes in even lower down... But you must stick to 99 she'll or telco on 6, with 5 I can use esso or sainsbury 97 and even 95 if I struggling

MSL in Birmingham now also remap them with there box, there very nice guys and if you want to stay in the UK give them a nudge,

RENNtech have just release stage 2 460bhp..... New turbo and map but stock exhaust etc...

Ted,
You should have checked the pricing before signing up to the service package. The pricing is no where near what you thought.

12.5k/12m - £378.06
25k/24m - £369.61
37.5k/36m - £391.61

I wasn't actually trying to save myself money to be honest Shaun more as spread them out a little.

Weird how the second service is less than the first you sure that right as it's a bigger one normally ?

The big(ger) one is at 50k - £496.34. Those prices are available online via the MB service quote/booking facility. Fairly reasonable (taking into account the type of car) prices I thought, but then it is only a 2ltr 4 pot.

The 1st service is dear as it needs diff oil change (which is £120 just for that).

Just researching at the moment.

Not sure I have the ***** to blow £40k on a car that will only be used at weekends. It's making my heart race just thinking about that.

Being able to afford it, still doesn't mean it makes sense. lol

Pound for pound though, the current private lease deals on these from MB are pretty good, if you're prepared to toss the keys back at the end of the 3yrs. Not something I've ever done before, but saves me tying my cash up I suppose.

Mmmmmm

Yeah I have 4 years Pcp which enables me to terminate halfway or hand back at 4 years or buy it, and suck up the 17k ballon at the end.

My only issue is will it last that long, I like you I suppose I work at home so she's sat outside most of the time, didn't move at all, last week till Friday.

I suppose it's get what your heart wants because if I'd have bought that S3 I'd be sat here today thinking what if.mthe 45 was what I always wanted but initially MB quoted me over 600 near 700 a month for it, no way was I paying that..

If you want fun speed and save pennies then my money would be with 135 235 or golf R.

If you want something people will point at with a twist then a45 with these extras

Aero kit
Black 19s. These are a must the car looks ****e with normal ones on
Red brakes
Performance exhaust.

Internally if budgets tight
Steering wheel pack
Harmon kardon if you can afford it, you can't aftermarket it without a huge cost so get it whilst you can.

The aeros the big thing, because it's the only thing you can't get on any, other aclass, if you don't get that the car looks, like an engineered by, and I'm sorry to say but I like my ***** waving hey look guys it's an A45 it's niceee hehe...

The R S3 etc are all good bloody cars but too subtle for me,
You be amazed at how many times I catch people, taking photos as they drive by, madness...

I'm free to chat mate if your sat on the fence and what to aim for discount etc, pm me when ha ready..

I looked at the golfs yesterday and there 36k demo cars madness...

I also see the Rs3 has been advertised now bit sad it's only 362 BHP and will start at 40k , too subtle is the a3 looks like a TDI

Yet I have to have quick cars that look very much like slowish ones The more subtle, the better.

Different strokes I guess!

Be aware that adding extras rapidly makes great lease deals not so great.

I personally don't "get" leasing and finance but then I have always been a bit old skool.

Strangely, we get it a lot with our VW camper - I can pretty much guarantee at least one person will come up to us and ask about it if we park it up anywhere.

The R32 attracted a lot of attention - maybe because they'd only just come out when I got ours?

Took one for a test drive this morning (A45)...... it presses all the right buttons. It's a proper hooligan chav car!

The noise with the AMG performance exhaust is the full on chavfest...... simply brilliant!

It's quite ironic that AMG have used the technology of a flamer kit and created something that people like.

From what I'm lead to believe yes. The old spark plug in the exhaust trick.

Littleted,
What's the running in process on these - do you have to go for an oil change after 1k miles, or is there nothing until the 1st service @ 12.5k?

I think Renny did the 1k oil change but no it's not standard I just leave it and check it now and again, we all use Mobil 1 new life

Running in period is 1500 theres a massive sticker near ya head telling you to stay under 4k and take it easy.

I did kind of, but I did gun it a few times, just keep ya eyes on the AMG panel with the temps soon as there all white go for it.... But yeah run it in if you can be gentle in the first 1500 then gun it.

I just couldn't wait think I was at 300 miles before I had a quick blast, didn't launch it though till I'd hit 1500

I have to drive at least six miles in mine before it's warm enough. Must try soon.
That running in period (1200 for mine) was agony!

Bet yours leaps off the line like a smacked rat!

Auto Express did a review of the A45 AMG against the M135i on track, pretty interesting

Oh and this one is worth watching also, note the superbly wet track

If you have all that power and its still not as quick as a fwd in the wet, is there really a point to buying it?
